It took me 500 hours to unlock the Typhoon, longer for the Black Widow.
That's some awful luck right there. My last UR unlock was around 350 hours (the Lancer, of course).

I just wish they didn't get rid of that awesome zoom the Krysae had.
I also remember when you could fire the Reegar and use your powers at the same time ![]()
Bioware is still more reactionary than anything though so it was really all about the number of people using it and how prevalent it was in lobbies.
I think It was more about BSN losing face over the vids of Kryfiltrators wrecking gold glacier. I really believe if the e-peeners had not posted so many vids and boasted about it, BSN may not have acted on it as they did. Same with the typhoon nerf being motivated primarily by that typhoon gold giant solo vid. I've always said if you don't want something nerfed, DON'T post a vid of yourself breaking the game with it--but the urge to e-peen always wins out over common sense.

Lulz. The Crusader was the first black card I got as a promotional weapon AND it was also the last black card I got at X. (Of course I had later UR weapons added that were maxed the same day)

Flamer/Reegar for when **** just cannot die quick enough for you and you're out of rockets. Smash/Reegar was awesome as well.

Ahh, I think the variable zoom is what I was thinking of when I said I thought the Krysae used to fire like the Javelin.

It's impossible for it not to get back to bioware. I mean a lot of players played routinely with developers.
FWIW there have been several people that have posted videos and posts about powers or weapons breaking the game. The Reegar for example, cain mine spam also (yep you're welcome BSN
).
Krysae Sniper Rifle
1st Nerf
- Damage reduced from [531.2-664.0] to [476.0-595.0]
2nd Nerf
- Damage decreased from [476.0-595.0] to [429.0-548.0]
- Rate of fire decreased from [50] to [35]
- Recoil Increased from [5.0] to [10.0]
- Zoom Recoil Increased from [3.0] to [5.0]
- Total ammo dropped from [9-21] to [9-18]
That's almost a 20% damage loss and a 30% ROF decrease along with the recoil and ammo restrictions.
The damage was later increased to 616.8, and the zoom feature was removed (which was both good and bad).
Recoil change was meaningless because of the ROF change.
Ammo change was meaningless because Clip mod will always be taken.
Those two changes along with the Shield Gate change seemed less about balancing and more about just saying EFF YOU to the Krysae.
BTW what the hell did you do to your post? It's highlighted in white.
Ah I forgot biotic charge! I'm so glad they upped the force and damage to stagger Phantoms.
I remember when they upped havoc strike's force/damage to do the same. Took way too long for the community to notice and start speccing into it though.
Best buff: The Wraith. It went from being merely a good gun to being an awesome gun worthy of its UR status.
Worst buff: The Talon. Wow, thanks for the Talon buff, it's even more awesome now. I use it on almost every.... OK, another buff. Not sure it needed it, but... OK, another one. And a +40% damage barrel that doesn't actually add any weight if you use it right... You guys really like the Talon, huh?
Best nerf: Tactical Cloak. Sorely, sorely needed. I don't think they did it correctly, because a nerf to the damage bonus would have been better. The end result was forcing you to choose between "Tactical Cloak" and "Tactical Cooldown Canceller and Temporary Damage Boost." But still, very necessary.
Worst nerf: Carnifex. There was nothing even remotely overpowered about the gun. It was a great balance between weight and damage that was just kind of a boring "slap it on anything where cooldowns matter so I don't have to come up with something creative" gun. They nerfed it simply because the players liked it. How screwed up is that?

But by the time I finally got them I had the Harrier, Wraith, Javelin, Saber, Particle Rifle and Paladin at X. So I wasn't complaining too much.

Yes well, the Reegar...you can't explain that (for those oldtimers who remember that phrase). To be fair it has a really small mag...personally I can't stand it (but I'm on xbox so it was never all that appealing anyway).

Lol. IDK I think I somehow quoted myself inside my own post. Epic posting fail.
I didn't go far enough forward apparently with the balances. Recoil is arguable I would say. It probably would effect some of the average playerbase using the weapon.

I forgot about that one. I found that really confusing. I'm not really a big Carnifex/Paladin fan (fires too slow for my liking) and I was all over the arc pistol and phalanx back when everyone swore by the Carnifex (playing an Asariguard or Vanilla AA who didn't carry the carnifex would frequently get one booted from xbox lobbies). But playing with people using it, it didn't seem particularly OP or anything. It seemed like it suited its role very well, even if it wasn't really for me.
Has anyone compared Krysae mechanics to Ravager? I feel like the Krysae is based off of Ravager shots.

Yeah, strange why that happened. Probably because a high level carnifex was better than a low level paladin. Then of course, they then buffed the (non-UR) arc pistol to the point where it puts all other pistols to shame. You can't explain that.
Edit: forgot about the talon which was also buffed...but that's a UR.
Tactical Cloak was one of the things most in need of a nerf, but it was not the best nerf.

The carnifex was about as perfectly balanced as you could get. And it rewarded player skill to boot. I still use it sometimes out of nostalgia--even now it's not too bad at all.
Best Buff: Without doubt the change to fire explosions and tech bursts. Singularity redesign was pretty awesome as well.
IIRC the Carnifex only recieved one nerf, and that was to its weight. And I think it would have been a very fair change... early in the game.
But by the time they actually put that nerf in, the Carnifex was already left in the dust by power creep, so it was like... why bother nerfing it now?
Funny, I remember at one point thinking the Carnifex and Paladin were some of the most OP BS in the game. Of course, this was waaaay back when 600DPS was actually considered good and the only way to get higher was to kill your fingers with a Mattock or flush accuracy down the toilet with Revenant or original recoil Hurricane.

I would agree (regarding the FE/CE). It's opened up a lot of characters which I would not play otherwise.
I haven't tried the new singularity yet though--what's better about it now?

I quite like the change - you've now got a choice between an actual tactical cloak and massive damage spike ... of course very few people actually use it as anything other than a damage spike which meant it was a nerfed for all practical purposes. I still like duration on my QMI "scout" build though (Tac Cloak + Tac Scan ... tactical!)

You must have been playing since the very beginning then
I came in the summer 2012 when the hubbub had died down somewhat. I never considered it OP because you need to be able to get headshots in order to really capitalize on it. The Krysae on the other hand is like hitting the side of a barn.

Paladin was nerfed moreso than the Carnifax. Both used to be great weapons but got left behind by power creep. The Mattock actually once was a great AR option as well.
