Low EMS question

So after reading some threads around here I realized I have never played a low EMS game.  As one who has a hard time letting go of an idea once I get it I want to experience this playthrough on my own instead of watching it on youtube.  However here is the problem, since day 1 of release I have played MP and still do today.  With that I have promoted a lot, enough that even with 50% readiness I can get the best outcome right at the start of the game.

One thing I have noticed before is if my readiness lowers while I am playing SP I lose the N7 promo assets until I click the war map button and it updates my readiness % and war asset total.  My question is does the game use the war asset value that we see or does it see the N7 assets even if it isn't showing them?  I don't have a save with a low enough value to test it myself and would rather not start a fresh game in ME1 only to find out my MP play has forever prevented me from a low EMS kind of game.  Anyone know?

It's actually a lack of update when you view your assets. Even if you go offline, and you start your game and check your assets it secretly still has your N7 Spec Ops asset included as well as your Galactic Readiness Rating.

For Example:

1) Boot up your game without signing into Origin/Or Booting the game while offline.

2) Go to the War Room and check your Readiness Rating and assets.

3) It'll show you that you're at 50% readiness(I believe), and it won't show your N7 Spec Ops asset.

But here is where things get disappointing. Even though the War Room didn't update your assets, your Online profile is still read by the game, therefore, your N7 Spec Ops will show up and your real GRR should you choose to view the Galactic Readiness rating. It'll give you the real version of what your EMS really is. If your N7 Spec Ops is too high, it is impossible to achieve bad endings without modding assets to their lowest value.

On PC, assets can be modded without any restriction, AFAIK. I had all Alliance fleet assets worth 5 points each when testing low-EMS Control to see if EDI can die. Still a PITA, though, but since I don't play MP it's hypothetical for me.

The whole MP affecting SP thing was a bizarre decision.

No, it wasn't. They did that so that people would play MP. I would never have touched MP otherwise.

From an SP game player's point of view it's really, really strange. But from BW/EA's point of view, they wanted as much players to play MP as possible (=more money. You can buy stuff in MP, right? I didn't play MP much :P)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would never have touched MP if they didn't link it to SP.

Yes I understand why they did it, I just don't think it was the best thing for the game. MP should have stood on its own merit, not being played because you had to.

The weird thing is that as it stands now the system discourages me from playing MP.  I have the same reaction to overpowered DLC items.

I hated the idea of the multiplayer at first, until i thought about how i could play something that was Mass Effect with my friends that played the game. Actually turned out pretty good, I have plenty of EMS points just from promotions, so i can skip the annoying fetch quests.

Indeed.  It was a seriously douche thing to do
