Then Mages shouldn't be hated for using blood/lyrium for their own magic if Templars/Reavers can go free with that.

The ritual to turn someone into a Reaver is blood magic, and if we go by lore, Reavers are both feared and give off a palpable sense of danger.

Reavers aren't mages though. They aren't going to enter puberty and suddenly burn down your town because they have no control of themselves. They're not going to transform into an abomination. They can't strip you of your free will. They cannot walk into your palace unarmed, look at you, and cause your head to burst into a fireball.

They are excellent fighters who get a sort of wolverine heath regen/strength boost. And occasionally gnaw on people who are half-alive.

So, yes, people ought to find you terrifying if they know you're a Reaver.

Templars are cool though. Everyone loves Templars because they protect you from mages, abominations, and other monsters.

Except the Dalish, they're not too fond of Templars. Oh, and the Templars have broken from the Chantry and are rampaging through the countryside, sometimes killing random people just for looking like a mage.

So, yes, lots of people should fear or even hate you if they know you're a Templar.

For what it's worth, no one hates mages for using lyrium for magic. They hate mages for being able to throw fire balls from their hands and turning into abominations. Lyrium doesn't enter into that.

It's also a point that the primary reason Blood Magic is feared is it's mind control abilities and the fact that it's often powered by unwilling sacrifices. While I doubt reavers would recieve a positive reception(Dragon Age: Redemption has one in a templar controlled prison), they generally use the power of foes slain in combat.

Well, here's my thing regarding templars; thus far in DA games, it's never involved being part of the order, just possessing the skillset. You've never needed to be part of the order.

I don't think anyone will dispute that a templar's skill set is a practical one and it doesn't do anything as unseemly as what a reaver does. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't like a templar, but it's still just a skill set.

If they can reproduce it's the same species. Yes, humans and Dalish are the same species as offending as that might be to their sensibilities.

That isn't entirely accurate. Horses and Donkeys can breed, and they aren't the same species, they do however belong to the same "family". The same with tigers and lions. Elves and Humans do probably have a common ancestor down the line, if geneology and evolution is even valid in the DA setting. But Elves and Humans are not the same species.

It really isn't.

Yes, when it comes to whether or not elves and humans are the same species, it's best to understand that the intermixing of fantasy (and some sci-fi) races is not based on any sort of science but Western folklore.

I certainly hope not. Reaver is one of the most enjoyable classes in the game for me. But in general I want my character's abilities to be acknowledged.
