So, I checked the Austrian (EU- German speaking) shop for the deluxe edition of DA:I. It says that it supports French, German (duh), English, Spanish and Italian. What does it say if you click on DA:I and then on product description?

I prefer my games in English and I am always trying to get the English dubbed ones. With Steam, it isn't difficult at all, you can just click some stuff, download some stuff and you are ready. It is kinda more trickier with Origins. ( I am sitll unable to install the english version of the DA:O Ultimate Edition :( )

Now this worries me. I've just pre ordered yesterday DA:I from Origin. My country is venezuela, and the text of the store is on spanish. It's my first purchase here on origin and I dunno what to expect.

I REALLY hope that is not like Steam and Skyrim, I had to redownload the language file because I couldn't stand the spanish version. I hope we get the VA on english, and the text on spanish (if the text come on english, I wouldn't mind either).

Well, in my case - if I click DA:I and read the product description, I can only see 'Russian, Polish'  in 'supported languages'.

@Allan Schumacher

Thanks, Allan!

Hopefully, that's just a misunderstanding, or may be a bug.

After reading this topic I went to check on Origins and the only language supported is Portuguese, That's cool but i really want the English version, would be awesome if someone from Bioware could answer this.

Br Origin?

Yeah, there's no release date and no info if the portuguese version is with the original audio + subtitles, or if it's going to be dubbed this time.

Ah the benefits of living in a shitty country, no one bothers to translate the game for the 10 people that will buy it

And the game info list portuguese (BR) as the only supported language, so yeah, I really want to play it with original english audio and subtitles, not gonna pre-order it until this gets cleared up.

^ It's the only reason stopping me from pre-ordering.  Origin must not like my hard earned reais or something.

The Origin Store language is IP locked. That is why I'm hesitant to pre-order anything or actually going though with purchases. The only things I got from there since it came out are freebies and the ME3 dlc.

I've also visited the EA forums and so on and it seems this problem is very widespread and has been going on since Origin first came out.

I may live in Italy right now but that doesn't mean I'm fluent with the language.

In Spain we have (in most AAA games, like Skyrim, unkown for DA:I) only two options:

-Purchasing "dubbed" Spanish version with a total of... ten! voice actors that do VO for every AAA game.

-Having to "pirate" the "international" or English version.

I know there are plenty of reasons why this has to be limited, but my god do I wish I could play this game without having to bear listening to the same 10 voice actors over and over again.

I really, really hope there is the option to buy the "international" or "US" version in steam origin spanish store.

Dude, English Skyrim only has ~ten VAs.

Heyo, all. Derek French here. You might remember me from such things as the Neverwinter Nights Live Team and pretty much every BioWare PC title for the past many years. Let me see if I can answer some questions for Dragon Age: Inquisition and languages.

Now a word of caution. We are still working on finalizing these systems and some things may change between now and then, but my answers will be for how things either are or how we want them to be when we ship the game. For happy fun time quoting purposes, today is Wednesday April 23rd, 2014. =]

Here are the current languages we support in Dragon Age: Inquisition PC.

VO (voice over): English, German, and French

Text: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese.

There are 2 parts to language selection that come into play. One is the the Origin language that the client defaults to the OS language. The Origin client will install the matching language for the game. At this time, all installed versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition will include English text, as well as your regional language. Language selection will be available in some manner within the game.

All text languages that do not have a matching VO language will get English VO. If you are in the Polish region, you will get Polish text, English text, and English VO.

What does this mean for VO? At this point, if you are in German or French regions, you will get your respective VO languages. What are your options for English VO right now? I don't know, but we are looking into a number of solutions. Also our language selectable will be dynamic, so it should offer you a choice from all discovered languages.

Now, onto the questions!

I'd really love to hear  about them before preordering or buying this game.

Origin DAI store page currently has only two supported languages - Polish and Russian.

Are we going to have international English version available?

You will get English text as well, and English VO on your install.

After reading this topic I went to check on Origins and the only language supported is Portuguese, That's cool but i really want the English version, would be awesome if someone from Bioware could answer this.

You will get English text and VO and Brazilian Portuguese text. Text language selectable in-game.

Wait, what? I do have the Spanish version (from Spain, that's it) of DA:O and DA2, and the games aren't dubbed, they are subbed. The games use the original English voices, it's the subtitles and menus the ones which are in Spanish. Or did I miss some (terrible) news about the upcoming DA:I? I hope it's going to be just subbed, not dubbed.

For Spanish you will get Spanish text and English text and VO.

Err..it seems Origin has some problem with setting different languages for games . :s

I'm thinking of canceling my pre order , and just buy a material copy on Amazon.

I really don't want to pull my hair out on release date because I can't play the game in English , I never had to worry about this with Steam.

You only need to click on game property and select what you want.

It seems with Origins , you need to change the language for the client and cross your finger it works.

Purchasing the PC game via another retailer will not help you in this situation. You will still go through the install process via the Origin client based on your language and region settings. Purchasing a disc version is just installing from local media instead of downloading from the internet.

What languages are you concerned with? If I haven't answered your concern with the above information, please let me know.

This is one of my biggest worries, but it'll probably turn out to be nothing. I'm moving to Japan in July and I don't know if I'll be able to get a digital copy of the game in English due to region issues with Origin.

OMG Lady Shayna! How are you doing? Long time no see!

You shouldn't have any problems, as while the Japanese build would include Japanese text and English text and VO, I would suspect that you would leave your Origin client in English, thus you would get the English text and VO build of the game.

If there is anything I have missed, please let me know.

Ah. There was a person from back in Neverwinter Nights days with the name Lady Shayna, so I just made the assumption.

Well welcome anyways!

Hello!Thanks for the quick answer.

Well I'm from France and I want to play the game in English, VO and Subtitles.

Thing is with a material copy I'll probably get all the sounds files  and at worst I guess I'll need to find some ini. files and change some things to play the game in English.

If Origin won't let me download those sound files , I can imagine things getting way more complicated .

And there's just no way I'm playing this game in French.

Mass Effect 3 handled this pretty well. You could download the original language pack for free.

Yeah, I hear you. We don't want it to be this painful for you and allow you to play the game the way you want with respect to languages. We are investigating a few options and nothing is final on this right now.

In the end, I would like you to be able to easily get the English VO, without any manual work or hand editing of files. Hopefully we will have more information in the coming months.

@ Derek French. Thanks so much for setting some of my doubts to rest :)

I'm still leery of pre-ordering due to the fact that even if my Origin client is set to English the store will only show in Italian. I may be overcautious but going through a purchasing process in a language I'm not completely fluent in just ticks me off. I had the same problem with ME3 and ended up ordering a physical copy.

I know you're probably not the person to ask but will EA ever fix the problem? More a rhetorical question than anything else, really.

I understand, but I can assure you that no matter what language the store shows, that it has no direct effect on what languages are available in the game in your situation. If I understand you correctly, you are physically in Italy and you have the Origin client set to English. In your situation, whether disc or digital, you will get an English VO and text game.

Will the Polish text be available for every platform?

I don't know one way or the other right now on consoles, but I know that Polish is certain for PC. I am sure that information is coming sometime in the next month.

Thanks, Derek! I'm personally not afraid of VO situation, since they don't translate VO into russian, and probably not into pollsky. Text though, especially PC's dialogue lines...
