I am another Austrian.

I hope that it will be similar to DA2 or ME3, so that we German speaking players can pick during installation or in the configuration tool which voice over we get. While the German VO is usually pretty good the English is almost always better and after ten years of English lessons in school I prefer the original VO whenever possible.

Not that I'm particularly worried personally, as we always end up with the English language versions in Denmark, but I'd be absolutely furious to buy a game in any region and not have the option to play the original English language voice track. I don't even tolerate games using Danish menus based on system settings and will change my system language to enforce English if I have to. Which is kind of a pain to do on the pc, but fortunately the last time I had to was AC: Brotherhood that I only recently got, and that was on the 360 where it's a two button presses kinda thing.

Sorry for bumping this one up, but I just had to say that. The things that we were promised do not seem to exist.

There's no way I'm blaming Derek, who was only trying to be helpful. Don't get me wrong!

I understand that he personally has no authority to change things in the Origin store.

To put it short. Russia DOES NOT get the optional English texts on Origin. They get region-locked localization with English VAs. From what I know, same is true for Poland.

Sad news, looks like I have to skip the game after all :(

Sad news indeed. I preordered the game already, but would really love an option to play it in English with no sign of Russian. Will optional English texts be never available for us? Also, I really hope that at no point in the future will there be Russian voiceover XD

Can somebody from Bioware please confirm? I read the earlier pages, and got my hopes up, but now people are saying that's not true. This is really frustrating and disappointing. Why force people to play in a specific language? And it's ridiculous that Russian and Polish are being forced on the Central Asian region... I know a lot of people for whom English would be more comfortable than Russian, myself included. Am really tempted to cancel my pre-order.

Please please can there be an official statement from Bioware/EA on this.

Only if we use some 'unofficial' methods, I suppose. Same as in ME3.

Origin does not allow to pick anything other than Russian or Polish.

Pre-downloads contain 'ru' files where some from other regions have 'en' files.

And the last but not least, some people claim that they had contacted Derek, and he confirmed the lack of En language in our release. In case the latter is not accurate - I apologize, and hope that Derek himself might clarify something about this matter.

Looks like the things have changed since April. :(

Hm... I am from Poland and what I usually do is setting origin language for english. Then it downloads full english version of games for me. Worked with Dragon Age II for sure. Honestly no idea how it will be with Inquisition though.

I'm from Germany and that's what I did with previous games. If it doesn't work I'll seek a refund. Please EA, don't make me regret to buy one of your games even after I was terribly disappointed by the end of ME 3.

Unfortunately even if Origin is in English there's no option of choosing other language than Polish or Russian. This actually sucks.

Well then... I guess I should be happy that we do not have polish dubbing this time around...

I just checked up the files on different language editions, and they all match bit-by-bit. The only difference between editions seems to be the localization index files in data\Win32\loctext (two files per language, around 35 kB).

Should be easy to mod any version of the game to any other version of the game come release. At least I hope so.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for, I suppose. Some kind people who would make our lives easier. Maybe Bioware could release a patch for this themselves... At least I hope they'd consider this, given how many folks are frustrated w/ this. I mean, I at least speak/understand Russian but those who e.g. work in a foreign country and aren't fluent in the regional languages are pretty much screwed! :/

IIRC the devs said somewhere that there would be a free download available for PC for the English sound/text versions.

That was about giving English VO to those who have their native VOs (France and Germany). I can't say anyhting about how they are going to handle this, probably they just allowed to pick the language from the start, so that no patches are needed.

It had nothing to do with the texts afair, because EU versions were supposed to have all the text options to chose from.

I guess the only solution (and probably the easiest one too) is for some kind soul to put the english-text files in the internet

Good day everyone! it appears language question is a concern for qute many players. I have similar doubts about Origin version for PC but what if I'll buy game in one country and download it in another? Which language will be for me then?

Let's say I will buy the game in Spain and then download and install while being in France? Which version would I get?

Oh well, it doesn't say "English" on the 'availible languages' on the game page.

Only Polish and Russian.

In Mass Effect 3 it's Polish, Russian, English, French and several others.

That's the worst information I have received when it comes to Dragon Age:Inquisition.

To the extend, that I won't buy the game, until this is fixed somehow. A sad day indeed.

I don't understand why is this even a problem. On Steam you just select a language on installation. You can even change the language of the whole program, which you cannot do in Origin for some reason.

I've preloaded and paid with Russian currency, but I never noticed the info about the language. I'm really, really hoping for English text - the game's unplayable for me with Russian subtitles, I'll lose all immersion. DAO and DA2 were available in English.

I do hope we get free English text either in the installer or from the developers, and we won't have to resort to anything else(modding, cancelling the order, etc).

I checked through Hola on Origin Store page, and Mexican version costs as much as Polish one (USA version is more expensive), and has all of the languages... including Polish.

What the hell EA?

DAO and DA2 were available in English.

DAO and DA2 had been released before they came up with the idea to restrict regions, same true for ME1 and ME2. ME3 was the first one with the forced Russian text in my experience. Probably there had been some other titles which I'm not aware of. BF4 suffers from same issue AND it includes the Rusian VO.

I doubt we will. But there are ways.

Language is tied to the key, afaik. It's defined by the region where you purchase. If you buy Ru_DAI in Russia and move to, let's say, Germany, you'll still have Ru_DAI.

Which means, according to Derek French, Spanish text & English text and VO for me then. Thank you for answer, appreciate it!

If they try to avoid keys to be sold cheap from - let's call them 'doubtfull' - sources, forcing regional restrictions would definitily be a possibility.
BUT I paided EA/Origin 70€ for the game (digitale deluxe version). I doubt that it could be more expensive otherwise. So let me just change my language to English because I hate the way games are translated into German nowadays.

Yeah I'm also from Germany and I hate that there even are any restrictions and the game isn't just installed with all languages. VO and text. I, for example, always play in english, but my husband prefers to play in german. That's why we seldom buy digital versions. From the disk we can, at least, extract the language files manually. But it still sucks..
