Why couldn't the guy in the support say that english is included into the game? He's already suggested I cancel my preorder and I did. Now I have to buy the game again. Can anyone confirm that the game really does have english text and VO aside from the regional language.
Seriously. EA sucks so bad at communicating.
EDIT: BTW. people. Contact the support and cancel the preorder. If you've already pre-ordered you'll be able to redeem your pre-order items later by giving the support the code they will give you. I'll just wait till everyone isn't considered linguisticaly challenged by EA and we all get to play in english. I'll get the game then and redeem my items and I encourage everyone to do the same. This is ridiculous.
No other bad news related to this game made me cancel my preorder. And now 3 days before launch they finally dropped the ball. You have no idea how many people will pirate this game if english VO and subtitles aren't set as default options. This is a dealbreaker to a lot of people.
Regional language restrictions?

Sorry for bumping this one up, but I just had to say that. The things that we were promised do not seem to exist.
There's no way I'm blaming Derek, who was only trying to be helpful. Don't get me wrong!
I understand that he personally has no authority to change things in the Origin store.
To put it short. Russia DOES NOT get the optional English texts on Origin. They get region-locked localization with English VAs. From what I know, same is true for Poland.
Good I haven't bought the game yet! Many thanks for confirmation. Looks like I'll have to use some VPN to but the English version.

Yeah. I'll do the same. It's ridiculous that we have to cheat EA's digital distribution system in order to buy their games. Who bloody came up with this?

Can someone help? It seems that I have voice over installed, but does that mean that menu and text in general is going to be of different language for the rest of my life? What the hell, how do I change text to English :/

You can't. Tried it myself. I'll just get the british version of the game... for bloody 50% more.

When I was buying Blizzard's Diablo 3, the site clearly stated - 1000 rubles for the Russian version, 2500 rubles for the English version. I naturally bought the English version, even though I had to pay basically triple. But here on Origin I couldn't even pick and choose!
And what's most unfair is that cheaters who use VPN would happily buy themselves English versions cheaply, while honest players aren't even aware of the option.

I really feel cheated! When I bought the game I looked for the supported languages. English has been included. I wouldn't have bought the game if it were German only.
As Germany is a country of immigration, hot everyone here is a native speaker.
What's wrong with EA/Bioware? Haven't they learned from previous sh*tstorms?

. I wouldn't have bought the game if it were German only.
From what I know -there IS a pack for French and German players, it had been mentioned several times already. I simply have no idea where do you get it. Have you tried looking in the DLC section?

No, what IS most unfair is to force the clients into using 3rd party software and\or other methods to play the game the way rest of the world does. With the languages, that were supposed to be available.
Plenty of 'cheaper' regions have full versions, but no, they just HAD to restrict Russia and Poland. So that Russia and Poland now have to use VPN too, I guess.

There is an English language pack available once you start Origin. Seeing as I was currently on the South Korean shop site I can't exactly tell you whether that starts automatically on the German one as well, but I'd guess so. It's also supposed to help to change your settings in Origin to English (either US or UK, doesn't matter) seeing as Origin seems to want to use the language the user has set as their language in the settings.
So I'm not exactly sure which was responsible for the language pack to appear for me, whether it had been the changed Origin settings, the Korean IP or whether it happens to all non-English speaking countries.

It's not available from Russian IP's, I can tell you that. I've logged on via an English IP and I see the English pack, but it seems to be voice only, not text? Can you confirm there's English text, as well, please? It's a huge download, I wouldn't want to make it in vain, but it would be wonderful if we could use that instead of paying for the game the second time.

Just purchased it for 0.00$, and it says English Voice Over Pack, so I doubt it has English text we so desperately need(well, I certainly do).

It's not meant to. Once again - it's a VO pack that is supposed to help German and French players not to play with German\French VA. Russian client has English VO as is. I don't have any info about the text though. My guess is that all EU releases have all texts anyway, so they only need to fix the voices and use the menu.
it would be wonderful if we could use that instead of paying for the game the second time.
But you should be able to get a full refund on your first copy, right?

Posté 18 novembre 2014 - 08:06
I have my doubts about the refund, that's why I'm holding off purchasing the game for the second time. Origin boasts their refund policy, but when I checked the menu, none of my bought games qualifies for a refund, and that includes Dragon Age: Inquisition in Russian(I haven't played it yet, maybe that's why, and it's been over 7 days since pre-ordering).

What do we do then
I refuse to play the game in the regional language, the translation is awful. Has someone figured it out yet how to maybe manually change it?

Well, piracy's bad, so aside from that, it's two options: wait until EA/Bioware provide us with an English option(not likely to happen at this point, though, since they deleted English without any warning whatsoever); or again, use VPN, log in with an US/European account and buy the English game.
I just checked my Origin account again, and after 11.00 my time(when the game became available) the refund option appeared. I'll probably go home, try it, check it's Russian only, then refund and buy the game for 69.99$(instead of the local price).
It's really, really, really unfair, because if I only knew, I'd have used VPN long ago and ordered the game when $ currency exchange rate wasn't as abysmal as it is now. Sigh.

Wait, what is the problem here?
I am pretty sure that all games in the German Origin store have an English language option. Just install the game in English.

It isn't German only. Set your Origin client language to English and your language in your Origin account settings to English, and you'll pre-load the English version rather than the German one. Also, even if you did download the German version by accident, once your game is activated, you can download the free English VO pack (you won't see it unless you activated your game but it's there). Checked by activating my game through a VPN after pre-loading regularly, which means that even should some settings depend on my VPN activation, the English texts and VOs are definitely on my disk, and I did pre-load from Germany with my regular Origin account without any extra effort beyond setting those two language options in Origin to English.

Thank you very much for the VPN trick. It literally saved my life and definitely my sanity!! I saw like 5 minutes of Russian subtitles and wept bloody tears at how cringe-worthy it is.
(Unfortunately, no Mexican/Peru servers were available to me, but overpaying for the US version is money well-spent as far as I'm concerned.) ![]()

Congrats, Lessandra! Ahhh, can't wait to get home and do the same thing(since I don't have my PayPal password at hand).
(Really, after I opened David Gaider's book in a bookstore(it was "The Stolen Throne", one of my all-favorites), two paragraphs in Russian were enough for me to run away screaming. And even if DAI's translation's actually decent... no. Just no).
