Let me start by saying yes this is all speculation at this point.

Ok so from the last trailer it seems all but set in stone that we are getting three female companions (Cassandra, Vivienne, and Sera) and two NPC's (Leliana, Scribe Girl).

Also it seems that we will be getting 3 romances per sex. (Again major speculation here but most likely true) Two would be with companions and one for an NPC.

Well the NPC's we can almost definitely say will be Scribe Girl since Leliana was a romance for the Warden and may still be.

But then that leaves two romances for the three companion characters.  One is already confirmed to be Cassandra.  So that leaves Vivienne and Sera.   Just seems odd that we will get just one female character that can not be romanced.  So anyone out there who really likes the one who dose not get chosen to be a romance will feel all the more slighted,  "How come the ONE character I really like is the only non romance!?"  Also I would assume Sera seems more likely to be the last romance since she is the only female character that is not human.  I hope Bioware will put a good in game reason why Vivienne (Or whoever is not the romance) is not a romance.  So it dose not feel like fans of that character got shafted as the only one who is not.

I am almost certain Sera will be a Romance.

It will be a shame if Viv isn't but then do we really want all the female companions to be romancable? That was one of the reasons Aveline wasn't after all, because we shouldn't be able to have everyone.

The other female (if there is one) will probably be scribe girl.

It will most likely be Scribbles and Sera who are the other romances.

it isn't odd, at all. there are always non-romanceable characters that some fans are sad/annoyed that they can't romance and wish that they could, and that goes regardless of the gender/sex/sexual orientation of the character in question.

"there's three female companions, shouldn't they all be romanceable?"

uhh no? on what basis should they be? they don't just exist to be available to bang mk

I NEVER said they should all be romanceable.  I was more commenting on the split of so few female characters.  It would have been better if there was another female companion or two in my opinion.

I almost think it's going to be a 2/3/2 split, that way either gender gets five options which is good.

I was annoyed when I found out James wasn't a LI in ME3 and Aveline in DA2. With only three female companions they'll probably do something stupid and bar Vivienne from being romanced or whatever.

you explicitly said that it was odd that we will get just one female character that can not be romanced and then went on to say that the one who is non-romanceable better have a "good reason" for being nonromanceable, as if they need one

Again no.  I was saying that with only one female character that is not romanceable it will feel they were excluded simply because as you put it not everyone NEEDS to be a romance.  If there had be four or five female characters and only two were romanceable it would feel more that the romance was a treat for those two not something being taken away from the ones that are not.

But maybe it is my fault for expressing myself poorly.

Unless they are both LI's (which I doubt) my bet is on Sera simply because she's the only elf.

I believe that it will be like mass effect 3 where you can romance most of your companions and some important npc's,but i don't think that everyone will be LI especially companions like cole because he's mentally a kid, maybe Varic cus he's better of as a bro than a LI,the iron bull because it would be quite awkward and difficult(sten describes how they do it in DA:O).

Yeah, it would be 5 options per gender, but then two sexuality/gender combinations (most likely straight guys and lesbians) would have three choices versus two for the others.  Why would they do that if it were even and everyone gets multiple options otherwise?
