I didn't live for liara's ninjamances, why would I live for leiliana's?

My money's on Vivienne, but rather then a ninjamance, it's more like she claims you are her property and actively tries to romance the player.

That or morrigan.

If Vivienne decides you are her property then you are her property, that's just how it is  :P

Leliana ninjamance, best ninjamance.

Even better if she then gets angry at you for hitting on another party member you have no interest in.

Won't lie, I love ninjamances, provided you don't have to be a huge douche to back out of it (lookin' at you, Jack), it just feels more ... real, somehow. It's the only problem I have with the ATTENTION, THIS IS A FLIRT icon, it makes it nigh impossible for that to happen. </3

Sandal.

By "Enchantment?" he meant "We'll bang, okay?"

Unless (and I just can't believe that anyone would think this), they mean that by simply hitting on a male character, Anders is somehow now ninjamancing them.....?  No, no one could possible think that, right?

Because we all know that female characters are fine with Anders ninjamancing them. <_<

What is ninjamance?

It's when a character unexpectedly decides to romance you. They're being a ninja because the romance seems to pop out of nowhere.

The heart icon pretty much eliminates ninjamances in DA 2. The closest thing I can think of is perhaps the player trying to have one night stands that turn into ninjamances.

Helping a dude kill his ex-boyfriend and then having him suddenly talk about feeling attracted to you is ninjamancing. It's abrupt and unexpected romantic interest.

It's possible with Ashley, Kaidan, Liara and Leliana because "nice" dialog locks you into a romance, even if you don't flirt. Liara even has a little nasty bug that locks you into a romance.

Yeah Jack has one too in which you rejecting her afterwards works the same as you rejecting her as a romance and results in her telling you to **** off for the rest of the game :( ****** bullshit fake no.

I thought that whole scene was stupid but to me one of the traits of a ninjamance rather than just being awkwardly forward in making advances is that the game and thus the player character also believe that they are romancing the NPC. I mean in the case of Liara, Leliana and so forth, there was no option to go "What are you talking about!? We aren't dating!"

I've never used the term that way.

I'm not sure it matters what the game thinks. What matters is that suddenly Alistiar is handing me a rose or Leliana thinks I'm interested in Zevran. After all, I'm not responding to a RomancePhase = 3 flag, I'm responding to what the characters are doing and saying.

While I'm at it, the heart icon simply means you're saying something that's flirtatious or romantic. It doesn't mean that you're in a romance or even interested in one. I hit on Merrill when I first met her and she didn't respond. When 20 hours later she comes into my home to announce her affection, I was surprised. It was the heart icon in that conversation that made it a romance, not the flirting in Chapter 1.

Well, don't be so dang nice to him next time!

It's funny, it wouldn't have bothered me if Anders hit on me, but I have managed to never actually trigger that, because I apparently, without fail, pick the wrong dialogue option to make it happen.

But yeah, I still wouldn't call that a ninjamance. Ninjamances are more like when you go to talk to Leliana and she accuses you of being in love with Alistair, how COULD you, as if you two have been in a relationship for a while.

I don't think Anders was a ninjamance. But you either said you were interested or you sounded like a jerk while telling him you weren't interested IIRC.

The worst was Dawn Star.  You're like her BFF and all the sudden she forces you to either be with her or she'll take it terribly and basically not speak to you anymore.

Allistair gave me a rose and read me a poem or something, I said nothing to show affection from that, I had to break up with him later on.

Is ninjamance Random abrupt flirting? or actually having something with someone out of nowhere?(maybe even after they talked to you about your relationship with someone else) or is it just both?

I dunno, what the game thinks seems like a pretty important distinction to me. I mean it basically means Leliana is right to be jealous of that other person you also aren't interested in or Alistair is not really out of line to think he could offer the Warden a rose.

No, it's not.  That's never been what ninjamancing means.  It refers to initiating a romance in the game without being aware that you did so.  Then, later in the game, you receive romance dialogue with a character and it appears to come out of nowhere because you never intended to enter into a romance.  It has never meant just having a character hit on you suddenly.

Yeah and if you wanted to get with Sky you pretty much had to choose the dick options or she'd never get off your case.

I have never been ninjamanced, all the flirt options seem really obvious to me. There was one playthrough where Leliana was bugged and decided I was cheating on her with Alistair even though I never even talked to her before that. :?

Given that ninjamance is a term created by the Dragon Age fandom, and I've been using it to refer to situations like this since the term was created, I'm going to say that this has always been what ninjamancing meant. You just weren't aware that people were using it to mean different things.

Anders is suddenly being romantic. He actually is responding to a specific line of dialogue you're using (he won't *always* hit on you) but you weren't aware that you were raising his interest. This is no different than Alistar suddenly giving you a flower or Leliana suddenly getting angry because you're cheating on her.

The player often perceives themselves as 'just being nice' in an unromantic way and the companion reacts to signals the player didn't realize they were giving.

Actually, ninjamancing has been a term used since before DA.  It was used in response to the romances in the original ME game, which predates DA.

I recall people saying that they thought Zevran was offering them a harmless massage and then OMG WE'RE HAVING SEX?!
