Does it matter? Is bigotry less bigoted when it doesn't target race?

Sickle-cell disease is genetic, but those who suffer from it aren't a race unto themselves.
So why are say whites considered a different race than Asian? All it is, is a few different features. If that is considered different enough, I say the ability to wield magic should be too.

First one is from HP. I actually wonder if any such words were used in the writing by the author, that I haven't noticed.
Mundies is from The Wolf Among Us which in turn is based on the Fables comics, making my original post 100% pop culture reference hoya!

Assuming for a second that even this means magic is genetic, which it doesn't because we don't know how magic works, it still doesn't make something a race. Use the sickle-cell analogy from above.
We know that magic is genetic.

This isn't remotely the same thing.
The ability to use magic is a (possibly) genetic anomaly seen across a spectrum of races. Those who manifest this anomaly are no more their own race than people with red hair, or people with brown eyes.

1. No, that's not all that race means,. It also factors in many things you can't see from biological functions, but for the most part, race isn't really a thing. It matters in Thedas where creatures are radically different, but in the real world, it was just a reason to say someone was better than someone else, for the most part.
2. Your "Asian"-ness can't disappear. Magic is not guaranteed, and even if it was, for the final time, SOMETHING BEING GENETIC DOES NOT MAKE IT A RACIAL DIVIDE.

We know that magic is genetic.
No we don't. I've never seen a dev come in and say, "Yep, genes did this." Nonmage parents can have mage children, and Mage parents can have nonmage children.

Again, what makes a race? Human is a race. Why are people of different color called a different race? Why aren't we all just human and why isn't skin color treated like hair color?

We know that magic is genetic.
We know it runs in families. In a world full of magic, you can't assume that's genetics. It also arises out of mundane families, hence so many abandoned mage children like Wynne.

In fact, I've heard Gaidar say the opposite and say that genes aren't involved.

Mage parents are more likely to give birth to a mage and vice versa, how is that not genetic?

You literally have no idea how magic works. Just like the rest of us. You can't explain it with the knowledge you don't have.

What makes a racial divide, and why are we not civilized enough yet to drop the races and call everyone a human if it originated only to say that someone is superior? Why don't we say light skinned instead of white, and dark skinned instead of black etc?

Mages are genetic, its a race. Black, white, Asian people are a race right? Even though all are human. Mages are also a different race even though they are human, elf, qunari.
Is left handedness a race? I think you're confusing race and nationality here.
Anyway, I think peasent is pretty much the one term mages could use against everyone else, given their status in the world is set above everyone else, even if it is below the nobilities rank.
