I'm playing a warrior and Anders is my healer, but I just can't make him a good one. :< So I think Im gonna make mage Hawke and become a healer myself but is there a possibility to be a dps/healer? I don't want JUST to heal. What trees should I invest? I'm playing on hard mode.

DPS? I've never considered that when making a good mage. Mages in this game are all about crowd control, and by crowd control, I mean grouping all the enemies together and softening them so everyone else, mostly the rogues, can pick them off. Invest in Force Mage and the Elemental tree for starters. When healing however, offensive spells can't be used, so that shouldn't even be a factor when you have that active. It depends on the role that you want to do. Do you want to heal primarily, or be a damage dealer.(even though mage is probably not the best class for damage dealing in this game.)

Yes' it is viable. However, spells chosen for Healing are ones that cannot go elsewhere, so plan ahead wisely. Some Healing magic may not be needed for your chosen playstyle (eg; frequent reloading negates need for raising spells).
Personally, when I have done this method, I chose fewer Force spells; only taking the desired auto-buffs.
