I really want massive imposing horns for my femqunari. Will be quite disappointed if she's limited to dainty ones just because of her gender.

Something like this, for example:

Or this:

As for helmets, the simplest way to do it would probably be to leave the top open for the horns. For example:

Helmet off

Like the Saarebas masks.

I remember someone tweeting awhile ago that they were testing the Qunari PC helmets with all horn variants activated simultaneously to make sure none of them would clip.

just looking at this from a logical real world view point. if females have smaller horns than that means that as the species evolved they became less of a defense thing and more of a mating thing. thus perhaps bigger horns on males were more attractive. this is kind trashed by the fact that the hornless Qunari are supposed to be more intimidating though.

Not at all. The hornless Qunari are rare and "other."

Actually, according to Mary Kirby it's both:

Many of the hornless Qunari wind up in the Ben Hassrath, so culturally, Qunari associate not having horns with being imposing or scary. Saarebas have their horns cut as a warning, "This guy is dangerous." It's also the reason Tal Vashoth often cut off their own horns -- they think it makes them look tougher.

Well, for me it's more of a characterization thing. Pretty much everything about my planned Inquisitor is in-your-face imposing, horns included. I want her appearance to reflect her attitude.

I like that male Qunari have large horns and females don't (or might not I guess?) It fits in my opinion, for show, intimidation, etc, their patriarchical and masculine status reminds me of animals in the wild, like deer for instance:

that word, patriarchal probably isn't the one you want... with at least 1/3 of qunari leaders being female and possible be as much as 2/3s female.

I guess, it was just an adjective, I wasn't trying to describe their society as a whole :)

ok, I can't coherently explain just how wrong this post is, words have meanings unlike people they don't just fill up space. patriarchal is a word by it very meaning refer to whole groups. gods this forum is going to turn me into some kind of grammar nazi

I get the gist of what you're saying, but I disagree and suggest you go read Maria Caliban's posts in this thread. Sexual dimorphism does not always travel the same paths. Plus, even some species of deer have males and females with the same size of horns. In fact in the world of Thedas the female dragons are the ones that grow large and have enormous horns, based on what we've seen so far. Besides, Mary Kirby pointed out that a lack of horns or smaller horns are seen as more intimidating than great big ones because of the place that the Ben Hassrath hold in Qunari society. It's not as simple as big horns = male = powerful = intimidating. It's more complicated than that.
