Oops, looks like Allan came by and deleted all the posts I was referring too.

You'll just have to take my word for it. ;)

Isn't the fact that bi is one of the set sexualities Gaider listed kind of contradictory to that implication?

I was talking mostly about posts other than Gaider's, actually. There have been a couple posts about that LI's aren't bi/"playersexual" and have "solid" sexualities. That's the part that bothers me.

I just wanted to say that as a "gaymer" myself I don't feel betrayed or any of that nonsense. I deeply appreciate that Bioware is a company who seeks to include romances and characters of my own sexuality, even if I don't end up liking said characters or romances.

I'll take personality over availability any day even if it means I can't romance that person I would, other wise, very much have liked to.  Then again I don't mind playing either gender so in replay I adjust accordingly if its that dire/important.

Please be careful, as your post comes across as suggesting that a bisexual person does not have personality.

@Chari And say I've said before: I'm glad that you're glad. You were right! Good for you. You showed all those that wanted something you hated that they were wrong! You've laughed many times in glee about this. We get the point, but you don't need to be childish about the matter. <_<

I didn't insult or even mentione anyone. If you don't like me expressing my joy, then, well... Too bad :P

Yesssssss, Bioware is getting away from pandering to all the creepy fan fic writing romance obsessed people lol. I seriously wanna sit down and have a drink with the writers I bet they'd have a break down at the way people are so crazy about the romances. As much as I loved my romances with Morrigan and even Isabela Bioware shoud totally do a game with no romances, I'd love to see what would happen. In real life people have set orientations this is the way it should be in game, it adds more to the character.

We just had a conversation on how people shouldn't taunt others, and then you post this?

I would like to maximise the number of different ways I can play through the game.  Herosexual companions does this.  Fixed sexualities does not.

Maximising is not always better, sometimes less means better development and options.

I would prefer one that is good to many that are irrelevant.

On the positive side, I't sounds like they put a lot of thought into this. I'm excited, too see what they have done with the characterisations of the companions, and how/if it affects their personalities.

I quite enjoy being bisexual for exactly this reason. B)

Are you saying you are Bisexual because you are not restrictive or because both genders turn you on?

The perception is that Bioware is backing away from supporting queer gamers.

Bioware are doing the opposite of what you say because they are now creating true gay characters and not irrelevant playersexual characters.

Gays should support this in my opinion as this is what they should have been asking for in the first place.
The only complains they should have is what kind of gays will Bioware include in the game? Will they be cheap prostitution gays or real live gay people.

True I have to admit the thought of an openly gay companion has me pleased. (Please let the gay options be companions and not NPCs).

Putting real live people in a game is a complex and way too difficult process.
They don't fit into the box, ya know
And I'm pretty sure it is also illegal

You know, it's entirely possible that this will result in more romances over all :P . In fact, it pretty much has to if they're going to give both gay PCs and straight PCs choices, which they seem to want to do. We're probably just going to end up with gay characters to romance as well as straight and bisexual ones.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, with DA:I we'll see the end of playersexuality?

Hmm. If so, things are looking up. I like this, if so.

Yes this is how I see it and I agree with you.

I'm still not happy with it because I know I will probably get the short end of the stick as far as choices. I would literally laugh out loud though if they made Cassandra a lesbian. But, she has short hair and is gruff, which means they will probably make her super straight, since Bioware is apparently terrified of making characters even a little bit stereotypical of their sexual orientations. CAN'T MAKE THE BUTCH GIRL GAY, BECAUSE REASONS.

i find it curious how no-one responded to my previous post

but i'd like to raise a few more concerns that i've since thought of:

i'm afraid that we once again will be put in a situation where the main characters relevant to the plot will be straight, and the rest will be the 'optional'/less relevant characters. i'm also afraid that we once again will be faced with a majority of straight companions and gay/bi romances from npcs.

frankly i don't think making the LIs a strict sexuality shows "representation". because even so, people can choose to opt out of the queer aspect and avoid the gay romances like wildfire. which is their choice - but what "representation" should mean is characters outside the Inquisitor's bunch being queer. i'd like to see a queer couple while exploring the city, or do a quest for one, or anything of the sort.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be awesome if she turned out to like women though.

First the character you create can be anything you want so why do you assume the PC will be straight?
Why do you care if there are more straight characters than gay characters?
Do you not like to interact with different people who have their own sexuality? Must they all be only what you like?

We do not know what Bioware will do in the game, for example i like Cassandra but if she is only in to girls then that is something i have to accept as long as we get good characters.
Why do you assume that straight people will have more options or better options?

I don't understand what's to question about an unequal amount of options.

I hope for this too, and I wonder if the topic will come up in banter. I can just see varic making some humor about it. :)
