If Justinia and Fiona die in this explosion...I want to at least meet them/see them first. It seems so pointless to have developed them as characters otherwise.

Oh wow talk about massive spoilers :-/

Though I suppose that mountain is the best place symbolically and location wise. It is also lyrium infused.

How come both Leliana and Cassandra weren't alongside Justinia when this happened? I thought they were the acting hands of the Divine? Surely one of them would have gone as part of her guard in meeting with the mages?  That makes me question whether Justina was there at all...

OR

Did this event take place while Leliana and Cassandra were traveling to/from Kirkwall? That'd explain their absence ...

hmmm  <_<

So in sumation: Some magical event happens which kills Justinia, and you decide to blame the Chantry (hey, why not, eh?), and burn it to the ground.

Right then....

I do not blame the Chantry at all.

Justinia was the one stabilizing element in the mage/templar conflict. With her absence her many, many, detractors will take full advantage. Detractors that fall along the line of Lambert's thinking.

Unless the player or his/her allies can somehow influence who's put in charge of that organization I see nothing but a vindictive enemy that needs to be neutralized. They've shown that they clearly do not wish compromise.

That is not to say that I am rigidly opposed to a sit-down.

What is wrong with killing characters off? DA2 is not the only story that did it, from what we know of the start of the game, I love the beginning. It sets up the conflict perfectly and  creates a good reason why these people are joining the PC to the stop the breach.

It creates a good reason sure.

But I'm so sick and tired of this 'kill everything off lol tragedy' trope that Bioware seems dangerously addicted to.

Bet money they'll kill Bodahn off screen and send us a letter, just like they did Reegar.

Game is not even out yet and they're killing people left and right.

It better not be DA II on steroids, I swear.

I hope it is more like A Song of Ice and Fire. (a.k.a. Game of Thrones)

Don't be afraid to dip your quills in blood, Bioware!

(David Gaider does use a quill..doesn't he?)

I don't remember who said it, or when, or even in what context, but i've heard somewhere that some elements in Origins was inspired by ASOIAF.

I would love some more of that tbh. Though i don't know if i could handle half of my favorite characters dying horribly.

I don't know that they're going for tragedy so much as they're just cleaning house.

I mentioned in another thread that including too many characters from Asunder presented the possible problem that it may feel like we were just along for the ride, watching their story finish up, instead of living our own story.

While there were other ways of handling that, there probably weren't any this...thorough.

You just wait.

They've got a red wedding planned and I cannot wait for the tears.

What you're saying is that Inquisition will be act III of DA II in its entirety?

I already suspected as much.

Fiona and Justina are most likely since they're basically the leaders of their respective factions.  I could actually see a bit of a civil war happening with the mages happening about what direction to take themselves in such as a more militaristic direction, diplomatic direction, or isolationist direction that could involve Adrian, Rhys, and the others.  Of course, I think there's also a good possibility Rhys and Evangeline might not turn out well with Cole ending up in our party at some point.

There's also apparently this person/group we're trying to find that apparently wants to keep Thedas in chaos at work.

It all looks so very horrible. Not a hint of hope. No light at the end of the tunnel.

I wonder who or what they'll take next.

I fould feel terrible if Justinia actuall died, we never even got to meet her except in Leliana's Song. so id say we Give the Divine a Suit of Plot Armor.

We may see them in the prologue even if we don't get to talk to them.  Then, we may see their charred corpses after the event happens with Cassandra seeing it as well.

Hopefully we'll get a "Thank the Maker the Divine had not yet arrived" line. I'd be pretty upset if she was offed in the first hour or so!
