I don't think the bomber is a good guy. He/She may have their own reason for doing this.

It is poetic because of the location. The Chantry has no right to claim Andraste's location.

They have shamed her.

Well, they technically do have claim to it since members of the Chantry built the building for Chantry-related reasons.

Only three groups I can think of that would want that Urn or temple destroyed

1. Trevinter

2. Dalish Elves

3. Qunari

I wasn't sure to add mages in here because some mages do believe in the Maker and Andraste.

Anders would have been a prime suspect for causing a boom.  He has done it before,to bad he is dead.

I was thinking a Trevinter dreamer may behind this.

Technically but not in spirit. Andraste is now part of a religion. The Chantry cheapen and distorted her movement.

Edit:

Hinata if you get the chance check my post below. I don't think the Chantry built the temple. The Chantry was started by the first emperor of Orlais.

I don't see anything pretty. The method is unknown. We do know a few things:

She was a slave

She started a slave rebellion with the help of Elves

Pretty much the answer is simple she didn't want to be a slave thus she is fighting to end oppression. I don't believe any of the other stuff.

Maybe the Chantry lied so that they could control the population. Making Andraste's efforts seem smaller than what they were.

And how chantry knows her real reasons behind starting war against tevinter as far that as far from chantry who idealizes her. So as i said motive would be everything from desire for freedom to revenge or desire for power.

I found this:

"Following the execution of Andraste, her disciple Havard retrieved her remains and carried them back to her homeland. There, her followers interred her ashes among the mountains, building a temple which became a refuge for Andrastians in Alamarri lands.

The temple was eventually abandoned, however, and became the sanctum of the Cult of Andraste, a society composed of the violent, dragon-worshiping inhabitants of the Village of Haven. The Temple is built into the mountain itself, extending deep into its caverns, which lead to the Mountain Top."

"The Chantry is the dominant religious organization in Thedas. It is based on the Chant of Light, a series of teachings written by Andraste, the prophet of the Maker, and was founded by Kordillus Drakon, the first emperor of Orlais. Its followers are known as Andrastians. "Chantric" is also an acceptable adjective to refer to something or someone that is of the Chantry religion."

I don't think the Chantry built that Temple. Kordillus Drakon I was the founder of the Chantry and first emperor of the Orlesian Empire.

Can't prove the desire for power. First you have to be free. I only real proof is that she was a slave and rebelled.

You know, Tevinter is also an Andrastian nation. There are still Old God cults, but according to WoT the vast majority are Imperial Chantry Andrastians.

Which building? The ancient temple it was found in, or a building the Chantry brought it too? Because I doubt the latter would happen seeing as my Warden knifed Genitivi to prevent anyone from finding out about the Urn.

I'm sure Leliana would be able to lead others to the temple, even if she was guarding the camp while the warden defiled the ashes and killed Genitivi.

You know that you don't have to take leliana to your party in lothering? And if you try suggest other companions only enforced companion was alistair and then you could kill him near the end so the warden is was only witness of that...

I'm not expecting pretty. Slave rebellions happen.

"According to some scholars, Andraste was born at -203 Ancient (992 TE) in Denerim, which was then a fishing village. Her mother was an Alamarri[1] woman named Brona and her father was the chieftain of one of the largest Alamarri tribes in what is now northern Ferelden,[2] Andraste was a woman who rose to greatness first as a slave of the Tevinter Imperium, then as a prophet, war leader, and religious icon."

What I do think is that the Chantry was formed much later and made the picture something they wanted to control the population.

Well i didn't said that they didn't rebel im just saying that andraste didn't had to fight for freedom of others just for own power or revenge...

Yep chantry was formed much later if i renember by first emperor of orlais or something when chantry does do what is convenient for chantry i don't see them controling something besides mages if you talk about hate toward mages peoples didn't need chantry to hate them and i hope i don't have to tell why?

Maybe in game there will be theories.

Or people could just blame Anders again since he already blew up one group of people to ruffle some feathers.

Goddamit Anders.

Well i said if you refused her to join into your party when you meet her first time.

You don't have to take her to your team in quest for saving ferelden heh you can even take her and kick her out of your party. There are even 4 codex entries for her

Control the masses with a new religion and let us not forget:

"There were many converts, including powerful people in the Imperium and in the city-states of what is now Orlais. Such was the power of the Maker's word that the young King Drakon undertook a series of Exalted Marches meant to unite the city-states and create an empire solely dedicated to the Maker's will.

What do you think happened if you didn't convert?

Then Alistair told them, perhaps. He is a loyal Andrastian after all.

Well pretty much thats how looks expansion some are doing that for nation others for religion.

I mentioned that he is only enforced party member but still he can die in 2 different moments near the end what makes the warden only witness of that.

Alistair objects because he didn't want the place to be a free for all. It was Leliana that wanted everyone to know.

@ Misticsan

True, the Trevinter Imperium has the black divine and Orlais has the white divine.  One believes magic (Trevinter) should rule all and (Orlais) believes magic should not rule.  Andraste didn't beat the Trevinter Imperium.  Feneris makes mention of this in DA2.

Ok, if you defile the ashes what difference does it make?  Apparently none.

My first reaction was "Damnit Anders, not again!", but I'm putting my money on

Spoiler

Perhaps the Temple of Sacred Ashes was simply a convenient place to make the attempt, since there's a lot of Lyrium there to work with. Killing the Chantry & Mage leadership was simply a bonus.

Sends report before he dies.

I don't see it being used as a location for a peace conference as "available to everyone".
