Let me explain.

The Ainu was a trib that lived in northen Japan. To them, having a glorious beard was considerd as a greate sign of beauty, to the point that married women tattoo their lower face to mimic a beard.

Like the Ainu, beards are very important in dwarven culture as well, so I thought it could be a cool Idea to have the female dwarves participate in that part of dwarven culture, by giving them the option of having cool beards tattoos...

What do you people think?

I don't like it. I prefer female dwarves without any hint of a beard, even if it is just a tattoo.

I would like some IPs to not take the Tolkien route concerning female dwarves. Even if it is just an option, it is no longer truly an option once female dwarf NPCs feature beard tattoos.

As an option itd be cool. That or maybe its a cultural difference between the dwarves at Orzammar and...I totally forget the other kingdoms name.

More customization options is always a good thing, imo.

Please explain why you would not want this?

Is it because our standards of beauty says that womans with facial hair are ugly?

I don't remember reading that Tolkins dwarves had beard tattoos to imitate the guys beard. I remember people saying that famale dwarves had beard of their own and wether or not it is actually true is unknown. (Did tolkien actually made a female dwarf character?)

I wrote about the Ainu to show you guys that it does make sense for it to happen.

There are many fashion style in this world and not all of them correspond to the western ideal of beauty. In my opinion, incoperating some of those (or making up diffrent fashion style of their own) will only make thadas universe richer.

They could totally play with this around! To me personally it makes much more sense for it to be a noble dwarf thing, Because they have the time/resources to mess with crazy fashion.

It could also make for really funny conversation between NPC, not to mention Varric comments...

Well, as far as I remember DA lore clearly states that only castless dwarfs wear tattoos, they are marked at birth so everyone knows that they are "inferior" citizens.

From that point of view is hard for me to justify female dwarfs tattooing themselves willingly for whatever reason.

That said, since the PC can be a dwarf and is up to us what his/her background is I see no reason to not include some nice "beard" tattoos in the character creator.

I would much rather they put effort into giving the dwarves from Orzammar those awesome pale lyrium eyes, like in DA2.
Tattoos are used to mark the castless, most of the nobles would be unwilling to even consider it.
