I'll start with the warrior. We have Champion, Reaver and Templar. Reaver and Templar didn't surprise me I expected them back though I was interested to see that Champion is back and not Berserker. I'm guess that's because DA2's specials focused mostly on offence so there was no real 'tankilisation'. Still sad to see it go.

For the Rogue there is the Artificer, Assassin and Tempest. Assassin, again I expected that one back. Though the other two are interesting. While i'm sure Artificer will be interesting, it's description (from DA wiki) making it sound like a glorified version of the trap-making skill in Origins "Intricate mechanisms are the core of the artificer’s craft: Deadly traps; Distracting contraptions; Marvels of engineering turned to deadly purpose. If an artificer is standing at the far end of a seemingly innocuous stretch of the battlefield, you should find another path. If he or she is smiling? Best just to hope your affairs are in order. "

Tempest just sounds awesome, I don't care what it does, the name alone is the best part.

(I have more to say about the mage specials at the end of page 3)* For the Mage we have Knight Enchanter, Necromancer and Rift Mage. They all sound amazing (except maybe necromancer), the Knight Enchanter (again from DA wiki) sounds like it's going to be the return of the arcane warrior, maybe mixed with the battlemage from awakening Among the Circles of Magi, only a few mages have the strength of will necessary to focus their energy inward. Wrapped in protective magics and wielding blades of arcane force, the Knight Enchanters are rare, but inspiring sights as they lead the charge into enemy ranks.. Rift Mage is like Tempest, it doesn't need to do anything the name alone makes it awesome. Still I can't wait to see what this tree is capable of. Now then, Necromancer is the one i'm least thrilled about, Nerco magic just feels overrated and personally I would have preferred to see the return of Blood Magic. Both my Warden and my Hawke were blood mages, I was hoping to add a third member to my blood family.

They all seem interesting and maybe we'll see Berserker and Blood Magic etc return in a DLC or maybe they will be added later or just haven't been revealed yet idk. So apart from the lack of Blood Magic I think they all seem pretty interesting and I am looking forward to see how they will work.

nothing will be concrete until we have the game itself. So we might or might not get Berserker, Shadow, Spirit Healer or Blood Mage back.

I want more choices.

Yay choices, give us the 6 choice specialisations from Origins+Awakening. Now that was some awesome amount choice.

As a side note. Google Chrome thinks that the word Yay doesn't exist.

My brain at reading the news:

0.0

*infinite loop*

"necromancer,necromancer,necromancer,necromancer.necromancer..."

*infinite loop*

0.0

Then giddiness ensued..

More would be cool. In DA:A they added to two more specs on top of the four available for each class in DA:O.

Can't say too much until we get more details, or a combat demo or something.

I kind wish it was Champion, Beserker and Templar. Oh well, though.

But those were already used in DA:O. Wouldn't you like to see at least one spec that is totally different and not used in DA:O or DA2?.

Reaver was also in both DA:O & DA:2...

I know that as I noted in my post before the last, that there were four altogether, but you didn't answer the question. Would you not you like to see something completely different, something new?

Sure! I just want a good specialization for both Two-handed dps' and Sword and Shield tanks.

I bet the artificer will be boring. Who used traps in Origins? Let's get a show of hands. Who ran around the battlefield laying traps?

I hope for classes that are very generic and versatile, so that the class is viable in several tactical use and that we can create the version of the class we want to play and that specialization  will either gives you something that the class can't do or makes you much better at one aspect of the class.

so for example Templar or knight enchanter is probably something that falls in the "something the class can't do normally".

What I hope for is that a rogue would be able to sneak and lay traps without being an assassin or an artificer or that a warrior can tank and damage dump without being a champion or reaver.

i would like each specialization that is an improvement of the and aspect of the class to give you bonus and abilities/talent that the standard class can't do but that does not mean that the basic class should be useless at it.

I e: I expect a rogue to be able to lay basic generic traps and the artificer to be able to lay more complex trap using much more specialized material like runes or special compounds to create a diversion or more damage.

I did, but in DA:0 that was not the only thing your rogue could do effiecintly. So it was not nearly as boring or repetitive as the class in DA:2 were

That being said  i agree with you, any specialization will suck if it is the only thing the class can do well.

I'm disappointed to see that there is no Blood Mage for the Mage class this time around. I was really hoping they'd give us access to it while integrating it into the game so that the characters around us react to it. The least they could've done was to allow the use of Blood Magic, because really, how hard is cutting oneself and use the blood for power?

If not as a specialization, they should really bring it back as a school tree like the others. It is after all the fifth school of magic.

Artificer sounds really cool. I've always had a thing for engineer type classes.

Maybe we'll even get to use crossbows.

I'm happy to see new specialisations, Artificer sounds like it will be a refreshing way to play a rogue and I have a soft spot for tech savvy type characters, Knight Enchanter sounds like it will be more or less arcane warrior, Necromancer piqued my interest, but of the new specialisations Rift Mage sounds the coolest and most relevant of all of them.

I'm kinda disappointed that the Warrior class doesn't get anything new, hopefully the fact that specialisations are being fleshed out more will make up for that.

Well the reason no one really used traps in DA:O was because there wasn't a whole lot of benefit to it. Why take the time to set traps when you can just charge in, kill a group of people, then heal up and move on the next? In DA:I, from what we have heard of the limited healing effect, this class will become a lot more useful. By setting traps and luring groups of enemies into them, you can limit the number that are able to attack you, thereby saving yourself from damage and allowing yourself to get further with the limited health you have.

For me personally, i'm excited about the new classes for mage/rogue, but since i plan on playing a warrior first, i do hope they have made some nice changes to the specs they gave them. Seeing as how warriors didn't get any new classes, i hope they were reworked to be worth it.

I would have liked both Shapeshifter/Ranger to return. I loved the beast DPS/special attacks.

I did.  It worked well in combination with stealth and archery.

Upon reading the list of specialisations, I expect to go with one Artificer and three mages (with the PC likely a Necromancer).

My experience is that traps rarely work well in games. To much bother, not fun and not effective.

Depends on how its done, really. I'm honestly right there with you, I've never been a big proponent of traps, not my play style at all. But there have been a few case's were traps are pretty well done (Diablo II Assassin comes to mind), so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt till i see it in action.

I'm enthralled with the necromancer specalization. Off all of them, it's my favourite so far.

But neither stealth nor archery worked well in DA:O.
