As a good character, how do you rationalize a romance with Morrigan?

A good-natured Warden could influence Morrigan to lessen her cold side. You can see by near the of Origins if you romanced and did the Dark ritual that she has changed by showing more positive emotion to the Warden. She sort of wished for the Warden and herself to have had a different life together. So that could mean Morrigan's background would change and everything.

I always play good characters, usually Paladins or Clerics. My first Warden was a castless Dwarf, trying desperatly to be a hero. Why did he love her? Certianly she seemed "dangerous," which attracted him (and me. I always ensure my characters have a touch of my RL personality) also he saw a damaged woman, one he wanted to help.

Discribing it is hard, but their were several different reasons, overall, I found it worked out great.

I did romance her in one playthrough. That Warden loved her, but he didn't trust her. It was complicated as Morrigan's romance was always meant to be.

Oh come on. The eyelash thing wasn't creepy. Just super adorable.

Okay...maybe, maybe, maaaaaaybe just a little creepy, but... Leli is too cute to hold that against her ^_^

Can I just say I don't recall the eyelashes thing at all? Is that my sometimes sketchy memory playing tricks on me, or was it something she only said to a male Warden? Because the latter could explain it.

Eh, I played as a female warden once who romanced Leliana as well and she makes the eyelash comment regardless, if I'm not mistaken.

Well, another issue is that I want to have her in my party, but if she keeps disagreeing with most of my choices, her Approval will fall into a pit, and throwing gifts at her seems artificial.

Oh! Now I remember! "Your eyelashes flutter when you sleep." Something like that, wasn't it?

Yeah, that was it.

Yea. Honestly, I'd rather call that scene cute than creepy.

I wouldn't call Morrigan's ring creepy either, even if I can see how it could be. I can see her achieving the same effect in much less obvious ways, and I don't think it's constructive to assume the worst.

I only romanced Morrigan once for the achievement, but it felt really odd and out of character for my do-gooder GW (I can never play d-bags.  I've tried, and I feel too bad about it).

Try to change perspective a little.

Your Warden is not a dirtbag, but is pragmatic. If you don't slay the archdemon in the most efficient manner possible, possibly hundreds of more people will suffer and die at darkspawn hands. So you need golems. You need resources to help yourself and the the other Grey Warden travel across Ferelden building an army to combat the darkspawn, all the while getting hunted by bounty hunters trying to kill you for a crime you did not do.

For me, a strong heroic character would overlook Morrigan's personal shortcomings if he was involved in a relationship with her. Just like in real life, where your partner is less than perfect and often times we have to 'see through' or deal with their flaws, its like that with a heroic PC and Morrigan (or any romance. Just ask the DA2 cast! Or Zevran for that matter...). The PC sees Morrigan's vulnerable side and at the same time, is attracted to her bad girl persona. Just because a PC is a do-good hero doesn't mean he isn't into bad girls.

That's one thing you got to get out of your head in the Dragon Age game.  There are few truly evil characters or truly good characters.  Everyone has flaws.

Morrigan herself isn't evil, just amoral and more about survival of the fittest type of thing.  She's the type that is more about completing the goal efficiently as possible to ensure success and feels everyone should be able to fend for themselves and doesn't deserve help.  She's not going to ever suggest you kill people for no reason.  Any time she does support a more evil method to do something, is when it would help you improve your chances at ending the Blight.

On my good characters, i have the romance with Morrigan start as a more physical relationship that evolves from there.

I've never had any problems. Getting "Morrigan disapproves" isn't that horrible, especially since it'd just be boring if everyone just liked everything my Warden does. Yes, she does have a very pragmatic, sometimes just downright harsh and cold view on life, but I see this more or less completely as a result of her upbringing combined with seclusion up until joining you on your quest. She knows very little about "real life" and people in general, except for what Flemeth taught her.

Unless you're a complete dick to her or just never interact with her, she's basically forced to challenge her existing beliefs and grow over the course of the game. The Morrigan that joins you in the beginning is very different from the Morrigan we see at the end of DAO, assuming you either romanced or befriended her. I also never feel like I'm actively trying to change her "for the better", it happens quite organically. My good Wardens keep doing things according to their ethics without trying to force any of their beliefs and morals on her. Yet by the end, she has come to care deeply for the Warden, romantic or otherwise as long as you've established relationship with her.
