Snap Freeze is indeed way too broken. The Paladin needed to have some Biotic power instead.

AIU could have had Decoy/Incinerate and some SMG/Pistol buff in order to resemble EDI, but thats is another story.

 

 

Yeah, but why not just change Energy Drain to Barrier? Would still be tanky cqc kit but can't detonate everything with everything on everything.

I just like the fact that the frog has decoy. Then you have 2 frogs. Something the paladin can never do.

OT: Salarian isn't overshadowed by the Paladin specifically. Other kits and balance changes came along that almost made him moot. He's still a good kit but he doesn't stand out from the bunch the way he used to.

Man I remember in the early days every single match I was in had a Salarian engineer. Then after the nerf and some of the newer kits rolled out he was just gone. It was the same with the GI when it rolled out. That kit was in every match. Now theres a Jug in almost every match.

Seriously. If there is any one kit I would add it would be Salarian Soldier. We clearly know they exist from Virmire and elsewhere. I never understood why this was never released as a kit. 

A Salarian Sentinel would be cool, fitting with the Salarian-techiness of Engineer and Infilitrator.

 

And to the OP: the Paladin can't make any other kit obsolete or redundant or whatever, because screw humans, who needs them?

These are the same sorts of walls where four Geth Juggernauts can empty Spitfires w/ drill rounds and penetration mods to thoroughly spray fire through a wall... while the wall remains completely opaque and perfectly intact.

Yes and No.
Overall I'd say the paladin is the better kit (snap freeze is so OP), but the SI has sniper rifle weight reduction and decoy is quite useful versus geth.

Nothing is obsolete. Fun is what matters in this game. If you like beating the ****** out of things with a holographic riot shield or playing as a frog that can make a holographic friend, it's all fine and according to preference. If you're just playing for efficiency neither kit is relevant, play the GI, TGI, Trooper, etc.

I still have fun with the SE.  I just slap the Indra with cryo ammo and cryo explode all the things.  It was one of the first weapons I liked using on the SE.  I don't usually end up the top score with him but I don't care.  I find him fun to play like this.

People are coming up with different ways of playing the SE and find that to be commendable, but I still see the Paladin as the SE on steroids. If Decoy actually worked against every single faction AND gave the SE a buff on fooled enemies OR debuff them, things could be different.
But at the current state the SE remains an old fashion kit best suited for team focused gameplay, just like the Justicar, both victims in the DPS race gameplay we have witness with Earth and the subsequent additions.

You are right, SE is balanced and fairly well designed and the Paladin is not.

I play the Salarian engineer buy using decoy like the biotic sphere, place it in choke points and use the shock evo, even if the enemy ignores the decoy, they can't ignore getting shocked.
And with energy drain being similar to reave. The SE is pretty much a tech justicar.
