I never heard of this until yesterday...seems like a poor man's dragon age 3.
I might pick it up due to the reduced priced and the fact that it has been a while since I played a bioware-esque RPG.
Thoughts? Concerns? Diarrhea issues?

Kingdom of amalur is the worst rpg i ever played in 16 years. and this "bound by flame" have similar features. so no. have no desire in buying this game. besides Dark Souls 2 is already here.
I must say, this game looks pretty cool.
It looks good but also kinda generic. I'll probably get it a few months after it comes out.

Pretty much just stumbled upon this myself, through the pre-order being up on Steam.
From what I am gathering various people are slamming it due to being a "Witcher 2-rip off" and such, how the animations are infinitely worse than that title's based on the footage available, etc.
Some have compared it to Mars: War Logs, Spiders' latest previous title, and going by the gameplay-videos of BbF, it's quite apt. Yes, Mars too took its fair share of inspiration from TW2, but having played it I can't say I minded that. I liked War Logs as a whole, to be had, in spite of its average review-score.
So, based on that, I am of half a mind to give this a shot myself. Would appreciate some more insight into character-creation, although having a choice between Mr and Ms for the PC already sounds pretty great.
Althix.... I'm curious: why do you think KoA is so bad?
because it feels like mmo forced in the borders of single player game, full with fetch quests and ugly combat mechanics. add to this a shallow world and you have it.
worst rpg i ever played.
my first thought about this game has been... is this a WoW? damn... uninstall.
I would be more excited for Dark Souls 2 if the dev spent time on the story, which clearly they have not.
Got bored during the first since there was no drive for me to play, story-wise. Gave up at the crystal kingdom place thing. Nice combat and environments, though.

I´m curious, but I think I´ll wait till the price drops. I would not expend so much on a game I know so little about, and from a developer I never saw before.
I hope it´s good. Amalur had a lot of potential, but the game is simply broken, and won´t be patched. But the lore was interesting, and I do hope someone menages to explore it further one day.
Looking forward to this a lot, actually. Hoping it won't disappoint.
The combat looks absolutely hilarious and awesome, kinda a mix between the twitch skills that you need in say Witcher 2 with a tad. A TAD bit of Darksouls and even some stealth. Looks pretty cool from a gameplay perspective. If they story is half way decent we might have a winner on our hands. Looking forward to playing something on PS4 other than BattleDerp 4 and Assassins Creed to be honest. Maybe this will deliver. It's going up against a strong lineup tho, with Wolfenstein and the uber hyped Watch Dogs and then the destiny beta, probably not the most ideal launch widow, but maybe it will be very good and get a cult following. Hopefully.

Read some places that originally it was supposed to release in 3rd quarter this year. Seeing how then it would have DA:I for direct competition, going by genre, it may be off to a somewhat better start releasing well in advance.
Seems alright, I may buy it and the combat looks well a bit... awkward and it'll be nice to play something on my PS4. Hopefully this can preoccupy me til Inquisition.
Doesn't look very impressive, but might be worth keeping an eye on. I'll probably end up getting it anyway. I'd like it more if it was open world, but I guess hub areas will have to do. I also like that choices affect your character's looks, like in Fable.
This game will be better than DA II
The music sounds good too.
I would actually be interested on picking this up early on, but unfortunately my laptop's NVIDIA chip has died and I won't be able to play games for the next three months.
I do like the look of it, the concept looks interesting, but I am going to wait until the reviews come out first. The fact that it is being released on the PS4 has also piqued my interest.
I don't think I'll buy it. At least not until it's heavily discounted on Steam.
I have a feeling I'll be playing mostly Dark Souls 2 for the next few months. Possibly even Dark Souls 1 again, if it finally gets Steamworks.
For an indie game I think this looks pretty good. It's obviously not perfect, but dual wielding looks pretty awesome and at least they have some more interesting monster designs (apart from the generic undead skeletons).

All the souls games have an amazing story, but it's hidden and obscure. You need to assemble the story yourself, by talkin to npcs, looking at item descriptions and environments.
It's just not as "in-your-face" as in other video games and that creates a sense of desolation and solitude.
The Souls game have interest fodder for speculation, but it's not a story. It's much more like archeology. It creates semi-coherent setting lore, but that's very different.

It's not an indie game though. The publisher (Focus Interactive) is an independent publisher but the developers are Spiders (not the adorable little creatures but rather the studio). Their prior games include Of Orcs and Men and Mars: War Logs both of which are developed with the same engine.
Bound by Flame seems to re-use many assets from War Logs such as the combat, animations and even the level design which is very reminiscent of both prior games where it's just linear corridors. The encounters seem too many with enemies having ridiculous amounts of health. Not to mention encounters don't seem far varied. I watched part 3 where the player was several hours into the game and he was still fighting the same enemies.
Considering there's indie games developed by fewer people (sometimes even one person, i.e Dust: An Elysian Tail) with better quality and content than this, it's hardly excusable for Spiders especially since they're not learning from the flaws and mistakes of their previous titles. Divinity: Original Sin is how you do an indie game right. Even before the kickstarter, Original Sin looked amazing, kickstarter just further enhanced the results. Considering this is releasing near to Original Sin, I know what most people (including myself) will be buying and that's Original Sin.
