British to keep up with the Fereldan vibe.  Although, if the American VA is Clancy Brown using a Kurgan voice....that would make for one awesome Inquisition.

LOL...a deep southern (Alabama or Mississippi) would be awesome.

Seeing as I only am interest in two races in DA:I, both. My plan is to use British for human and American for qunari.

I guess American is for Qunari and dwarves and British is for humans and elves.

The link only says there are two English voice actors but it doesn't say you have the option to choose which one you want. Just keep that in mind.

American for the Female.

British for when I play a male Quizzy, that way I can drool over my character.

(Although it would take me out of the role-playig mindset.....and if I can make a m!Quizzy like that Rhodes concept art.....with that voice from the trailer......I may short circuit my PC)

Do you think we start the game and they decide which one you use by rolling some dice? Of course you'll pick, what's the point then?

Considering accents are something learned (job related) by actors (voice and screen) I'd say it really doesn't matter who with what, as long as it sounds good.

My understanding was that Bioware tries to go for native speakers, even when fans actually think the person is used a contrived fake accent (like Leliana - her accent is genuine).

I will do as always when presented with a choice. I will choose the better option when i see it.

No, they will probably use the already established canon they have been using in past games for accents. Humans British, Elves/Dwarves American.

Actually whilst they do have a default choice you can choose to change it.

If you want to have a human with an American accent, you can. And why would elves be set in stone as American? They were Welsh and Irish in the last game.

Do you have some proof of this?

Human will be British. No other way.

Everyone else will have American.

My human will have British accent, and qunari/dwarf  - American, that's for sure. But in general I like the British accent more.

Of course I'll have to listen to it before choosing. As much as I would like it to be a British accent, I'll choose the one that fits more to someone who appears to be a delicate flower. At least, for my human/elf female inquisitor. Then I will create an Inquisitor for the second voice (also female).

Do you have some proof of this?

Mike Laidlaw has tweeted several times about it being a choice, two for each gender.

http://www.gameranx....tions-and-more/

http://www.examiner....racter-revealed

Both articles confirm it as a selection, not just set to each race. Though you can stick with the "defaults" if you want.

Won't really know for sure until I hear them both.  But I'm likely to use the American voice for my Dalish Inquisitor (DA:O style).  Playing an elf-blooded human with the American accent would be interesting too.

Silly of me to get irritated by the British voice thing, what with Britain being made up of different countries. (Pet peeve is silly! I know)

Anyway, as I am English, I will be choosing an English VO, if that is what is meant by British.

Depends on my character:

Considering my first conceived character is a female Qunari mage, I'm going against the grain of Qunari stereotypes and giving her more of an elegant, refined feel in terms of her appearance. A British accent fits this Vashoth sarebaas perfectly and is sure to throw everyone she meets off.

As for the others, it largely depends on the race. Probably British for humans (most English-speaking humans in Thedas are Ferelden/have a British accent) and American for elves and dwarves (City Elves and Dwarves have regular American accents).

I'll have to get back to you when/if I get to hear samples of the voices. It is very cool that we get to pick one of two, because I couldn't stand to play one of the genders in the last game because of the voice. Hopefully all will be well. :)

I couldn't care less about the accents. I want 2+ voice options for games with largely undefined but voiced player characters, so that they can cover a reasonable range of voices. I simply don't want my lithe elven rogue to sound as deep as, well, the PC trailer voice for instance. To a degree a pitch slider could alleviate that issue, but it would be far from perfect, and devs tend to blench at the mere mention of toggles and sliders, anyway.

True, I just never understood why Americans say "red, white and blue" as though it's unique to them when a number of other flags use those colours too.

Expecting your average 'Muricans to know about other countries and not treat every little detail of the U.S. of A. as wholly exceptional? Good luck.
