No Fitness Drell Vanguard?

What does BSN think about this idea?

 

I really like the idea of a %75 increased BE from Pull - Charge. Just another way for him to wipe out a spawn that has any mooks in it.

 

The movement speed is really nice and provides considerable survivability (although this would still be a very fast moving kit with his quick CD BC)

 

Losing the 200 barriers from full fitness to zero fitness doesn't seem like much if you are a gold or Platinum regular .. everything that hits you shieldgates you anyways. I do admit losing the %80 extra health could be problematic, and would almost surely result in extra downs per match.

 

I haven't tried it yet, but I am toying with the idea.

Seems to me that BC gets you there faster than running, so...sure, why not. Try it. There are always respec cards.

 

Edit: Since the BC cooldown is so low, I would think unless you're just absolutely reckless, the shield recharge/i-frames would help mitigate the small loss in shields/medium loss in health.

Speed compensates for his meager health.  You're suggesting that you give him less speed and even less health.  Give it a shot, but you might find that a 6/6/6/0/6 build will work better for you.

 

FYI, all vanguards are susceptible to death at the end of their charge if they've been shield gated and are immediate hit with a high damage attack like a brute strike.  But the lower health vanguard kits are especially susceptible to this.  It's going to happen much more often to you if you opt for 0 fitness.

No. The movement speed is mandatory for me. Plus, Pull + BC is not worth speccing out of fitness for anyway imo. It will be pretty cosmetic on gold, let alone platinum, and I'd end up grenade spamming all the same. Even if you don't take an Acolyte with, it'll be almost useless. So, don't.

It's not the additional shields but the speedboost from fitness that matters.

 

Also, no speedboost, no bang.

I think his point is he's adding a +75% BE w/ Pull whilst sacrificing a few points in shields health and the speed increase.

 

You can always run AM's to compensate for that, though.

I would use adrenaline modules with this set-up (currently I typically use power amps)

 

And Pull is a much better power at rank 6 than many give it credit for.

 

As for skipping passive, I don't want to lose all the power damage for the clusters

Taking speed out of a Drell is the same thing has taking headbutts out of a Krogan.

It kind of gimps him, since he loses the movement speed bonus, very important to get him out of tricky situations.

And you sacrifice that for what? Pull? One of the most gimmicky powers all around. Pull has no place on the drellguard.

I suppose skipping Fitness makes more sense than skipping passives on a Drell. 

 

Not that I'm a fan of either idea. I personally skip Pull on him (I've had that build for the longest time) but I'm tempted to try it for 2 reasons:

 

1) Pull can be useful for the reasons stated in the OP; it's a very powerful primer. 

 

2) I'm never actually running around with the Drellguard. It's charge here, charge there. Even grenade boxes are usually conveniently next to a spawn.

 

So with that perspective it might work. I'm with you, NightSlasher: losing the speed doesn't sit well with me. 

 

But y'all know I'll try anything once.

Then I'm good. On the Drelldept, I could see it, because I always run AMs on him. But on the Drellguard, I need my Power Amp.

I prefer no fitness on the HV.  I tried the no fitness drell a while back and wasn't as impressed, but as usual the combo of BC->cluster grenades still made it incredibly effective.

No, you use both, and then you outrun your own charge.

It's fun as hell but then you roll snake eyes on bonus power BC and die really quick. 

 

Lead with a nade, BC into the cluster ****, pull anything left alive then BC again. 

 

Let me be honest though, you will die often. Of course you're probably better than a lowly scrub like me so who knows. And in terms of efficiency it's almost always better to just charge again or throw nades.

I thought that if you take 0 fitness on a drell, it's like you don't have shields at all. Could've sworn that was the case. Regardless, don't go for pull on Drellguard, is useless. You're weighing it against:

 

Moving so fast you can sidestep bullets vs. an ability that in the same amount of time you could've dunked the enemy or group of enemies with a fire explosion detonated by a cluster grenade.

 

The point of being fast is mostly to avoid getting shot at, but it's also so you can be the only/first one who will be getting grenades across the map. If that fails, there's always the ammo consumable.

The problem comes from being health gated, not shield gated.

Thanks for the replies everyone ... how about revising it to 5 in passives and 3 in fitness?

 

At least that way you get the %10 movement speed, plus some health (although losing the %12.5 weapon damage hurts).

 

i really want to find a way to get rank 6 pull on him ... too bad this isn't one of the kits you could have an all 6 build on :ph34r:

 

And yes, i anticipate I'd get downed more than usual (which is saying something for those who have played with me can attest lol)
