This is no e-peen thread, but I just wanted to share this with you, especially aimed at players that badly want to complete a certain solo, but keep banging their heads against the wall or those that are having bad luck. It's a simply message of perseverance, of not giving up. And also, stay with your strengths and if you're patient and dedicated enough, anyone can complete a Platinum solo at some point.
I'm a PC player with a right-wrist that was shattered and is probably going to be crap for life, but I still got the job done through focussing on my strengths. Rather than taking an ultra-aggressive approach - which will get me killed, because I can't react as fast as other players to moving targets - I have adopted a very defensive playstyle, that allows me to be a good "clutch" guy and a survivor. Yes, my solos take quite long this way, but I still feel pretty awesome when I see the "Mission Succesful" screen. I could never hope to speedrun a solo like TheNightSlasher, but I still have a lot of fun doing it. That's really at the heart of playing Mass Effect 3.
So there you have it, folks: my pet project for quite some time now - my Asari Valkyrie Sentinel Platinum solo - has been completed.

The Switch
After having a lot of bad luck with objectives on Firebase Goddess, I switched it up to Firebase White. I know the objectives are RNG, but I got Devices 6 times in a row on waves 3 and 6 of my 3 attempts on that map. That was just really weird, so superstitious as I am, I switched to White. I did not switch factions, because I wanted to get a solo done versus the Reapers this time.
Build & Loadout
For this solo, I deciced to use a standard Acolyte/SMG combo with Incendiary Rounds IV, Pistol Rail Amp III and the Geth Scanner V. I wanted to prime and strip shields fast with the Acolyte, followed up by a quick Warp for some cool fire-explosions. Since I'm always very cautious during my Platinum solos, I chose a "tanky" build:
Tech Armor: Durability - Power Damage - Durability
Warp: Detonate - Expose - Pierce
Annihilation Field: Impact Radius - Damage Taken - Drain
Asari Justicar: SKIP
Fitness: Durability - Shield Recharge - Fitness Expert
This build will not grant the best DPS, but it helped me to take a few hits and get to wave 8 without dying. Maybe when I get some more experience under my belt with these solos - this is only my third Platinum solo, after all - I might go for more damaging builds. What I notice during my attempts, is that I really need my consumables in the last couple of waves. It's then that the game really starts to challenge you with trolly stuff, such as spawning Phantoms right behind/next to you, Geth stagger, two Banshee balls to the face at once, etc. I like to have a little margin of error, and not rely on 1 gel and 1 Opps Pack from wave 8 'till Extraction.
That's why I focuss on my biggest strength: surviving. It usually takes quite a lot of bullshit to take me down; the game really has to surprise the crap out of me.
The Solo
I really just had a lot of fun, which is the most important aspect of the game. I really love the Asari, because of how they look, but also because they can pack a pretty good punch. The Valkyrie Sentinel is mostly a close-range fighter, not exactly my strong point. I shine when I fight at long range, but there's just a very gratifying thing to blasting an enemy into oblivion with a Warp ball to the face.
The combination of her being my favorite Sentinel and the fact I got up close and personal with the enemy, made for a very fun and challenging solo. I lucked out with the objectives: Pizza/Pizza/Escort. Even though, I still haven't learned how to run with the pizza without running beforehand. I can't run with it from a deadstop, haha. So, I took them in by meleeing the air. ![]()
The only black dot on the solo, is the fact I did not extract. The Prime Drone staggered me literally a foot away from the LZ - AARRRR!! - and I was furious. Have any of you been denied an extraction like that? I was freakin' pissed, but I still got the solo done. The Primes definitely gave me the most trouble throughout the solo; the Escort on wave 10 was far from easy.
Dedicated To Cain
I actually did this solo for Caineghis2500 - also known as With Great Power - as a way to give something back, so to speak. As I promissed you a while ago, buddy, I completed the Platinum Solo with the Asari Valkyrie Sentinel. The reason I dedicate this solo to Cain, specifically, is because his Valkyrie Sentinel solo actually inspired me to become a better player and it was that specific video that prompted me to subscribe to his YouTube channel. Through watching his videos, I learned a lot about how to survive on Gold/Platinum, how to spec certain characters, etc. That's the reason I wanted to get this solo done so badly; a chance to give something back to Cain.
Mission succesful, pet project done, had great fun doing it. Now, onto the next Platinum solo...one of the other Asari chicks. Two down, three to go.
