Could not find an answer to this question (as related to Dragon Age: Inquisition). Does anyone know if companions will be able to develop feelings of attraction to another companion? If so, that would be pretty sweet. If not, no biggie, just curious.

Not sure, yet.  Although I'm hoping so.  I actually enjoyed that element of Dragon Age 2, as it allowed for character development without the PC's input.

This existed in DA2?

I wonder if I had missed it. I can't remember any party member having an attraction to another (i.e. Isabella and Fenris).

No idea, although i won't mind too much if they don't, as long as they still develop close friendships and stuff.

I agree. Having some closeness with (or purposeful distance from) one another would be pretty cool for immersion.

It's those very two people who get involved, assuming neither is pursued by the player.

Isabela and Fenris hook up in Act 3 if neither of them is romanced by the PC.

Thanks for making a thread on this! I agree! I would love to see them develop relationships with people other than the player. Just like in ME3 with Tali, Garrus, Ash, James, Joker, EDI, I loved their interactions. Or like Aveline's relationship  in DA2. If the player could even influence relationships.. like encouraging a companion to go after someone... or even breaking them up...that would be fun too.

Oh, haha. I obviously missed that because I always romanced Isabella. Makes sense now, that's cool...I never knew that!

Aveline had a relationship outside of the party.

I didn't know that as I always romance Isabella.

I really hope so, with all the male companions the M/M possibilities are endless. I love Isabela and Fenris interactions and hope they implement this again in DA:I.

If not, I certainly hope they develop strong friendships.

Isabela and Merrill was definitely my favourite by far, but I also liked how Isabela's vitriolic friendship developed with Aveline.

Fenris' friendship with Sebastian was also sweet, if unexpected. And I liked the friendship between him and Aveline (and the stated one with Donnic).

Although there were some real tensions between characters, I felt it was balanced out by the friendships.

That's true. Man, it really has been a while since I've played. I guess I'm more curious about companion-companion relationships rather than people outside of the party (even though I had originally inquired about that too).

I would love to see this! As we do not really know how the romance system works so far, I would not even be mad if companions fall in love before my Inquisitor is at that point to express her feelings to whoever that is. So Viv and Solas getting hitched before I can romance either.

Not that this is a wish for this to happen, but I really like realistic character development and falling in love without the player input with a character that is not the Inquisitor would be a new dimension of independence. Just because they follow you doesn't mean they have to do/like everything you do.

Yeah, Fenris's touching interactions with other companions is what established him as something more than angry ex-slave with a serious axe to grind. It made him feel very much like a person who, despite still having quite a lot of issues, was trying his best to move on from his troubled past. It was a pretty stark contrast to Anders, who, as the game went on became more and more obsessed with his goal, isolating himself from the other companions.

Companion relationships can do a wonderful job of showing us different sides to a character that sometimes the protagonist (who's often times a bit preoccupied with saving the world) never gets a chance to see. I really do hope they make a come back for this game.

I hope that DHMG is a total player and if you don't romance him he starts wheeling one of the other ladies. It'd be cool to have a mage who isn't a crybaby and was just a cool fun dude.

The only one who didn't really seem to have friends is Anders. Maybe Varric but he probably hated him in the end too.

Certainly hope so.

Both friendships and romances (or just hook-ups) - the latter both with and ohn player help.

The quality of the companions and their interactions with each other was, in my view, easily the best thing about DA2. Even Anders, who I really didn't like as a person, was a brilliant character.

I sincerely hope that whomever the Inquisitor doesn't set their sights on can develop a more involved relationship with another follower.

I'd also love it if the Inquisitor's relationships had varying degrees of influence on followers relationships with each other. I.e if the player romances Cassandra, who doesn't like DHMG, but the Inquisitor does, maybe Cassandra's feelings towards him softens slightly.

Varric needs to burn a copy of Hard In Hightown 2 that someone put on the highest bookshelf. Thus a friendship is born.
