I don't know if anybody here has ever used Can You Run It?, but it is a great tool to see if your PC will run a game.  Well, Mass Effect 2 is now up so with a couple clicks you can see if your PC is worthy.

Can you run it is so not the best way to check if something will run.

I've had it say I didn't meet the requirements before and if you look into it it's whining that I don't have Windows Vista when I'm running 7 :P Or something else rather silly.

Not trying to shoot you down, just letting people know that you shouldn't immediately get all panicky if you fail anything, just scope it out and see what is failing.

And thanks to this, I just noticed a 2GB stick of ram is dead. Thanks for making me realize something I have been trying to avoid for some time now! you make me sad! :crying:

Don't get me wrong. I still meet the recommended requirements. Its just not the same...

Something to watch out for. Even if your cpu is technically powerful enough to run it like mine is it may mark your cpu as a fail if its not a certain type. Don't worry though, as long as you meet everything else you can still run it.

For instance my pc is amrked a fail but a BW tech guy on the old forums said it would run when I showed him the specs on the pc specs thread.

Yeah, for some reason it doesn't like my CPU. It's done this for other games like DA:O and Fallout 3 yet both those games ran great.

Interesting tool. However, just for fun I tried Crysis. Apparently my decent computer met all of the recommended attributes??? Odd, very odd.

If it's NVidia it counts even the shared ram memory which the videocard might use if needed :P

A number of people with computers even a handful of years old can play Crysis...they just can't play it on max settings without framerate issues. :P

This is old. Yet it is still highly amusing to get a full green bar on everything for every game.

I'm confused, than again I don't know much about computers but what's up with this?

Recommended: 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo Intel or equivalent AMD CPU

You Have: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T9600 @ 2.80GHz

Upgrade Suggested: Unfortunately, your CPU does not meet this requirement.

Does the fact that it's a laptop CPU screw with the numbers or something?

Dont worry.  If your processor is the wrong brand, it will mark it as a fail, even if it can run it.  You should check some things.  First:  Does your comp meet all other min reqs?  Also, does it meet most or all max reqs ecxept the processor?  If so, then you're probably good.  Its not common for a comp to have one part that drags it down.  Trust me you're fine.

Not 100% positive, but I believe the devs pointed out that most...not all but most mobile type hardware is not supported.  As I said, I'm not sure but I'd bet that's why it says you don't pass even though you should be able to run the game.

I don't think it can gauge CPU's properly, as it says I don't meet the minimum requirements for the CPU, when really I blow it out of the water.

If you have a laptop, make sure you processor is running at max.  Some laptops let you throttle your processor down to lengthen battery life.  For others, may mass produced PCs use processors that are cheaper versions of the current generation of processors.  These just don't have the power of their more expensive brethren.

Oh, and this is my PC, so I get the off the graph too.  B)
