After reading a post about the trailer, where the group shot was compared to the last supper it got me thinking... what if our character is the makers child.. the Thedas version  of Jesus. It could explain why he has the power to close the rifts, and why he was the only one left alive after the blast.

I really hope not, having the maker's existence ambiguous is a pretty neat thing for this game.

Bioware has said since Origins that they are purposefully leaving the Maker ambiguous.
