<sigh>  and this is gets added to my biggest fear about DA:I.  Not that the inquisitor sacrifices herself in one ending, but that it's done in all endings.  Actually the rest of the idea could be interesting.

Indeed.  It's one of the main things holding me back right now.

Well if the Inquisitor does make the ultimate sacrifice due to occupying the "Jesus seat" then wouldn't s/he come back to life?

Perhaps the "death" is actually a ruse or during the story there's the false belief the Inquisitor's perished.

Yes, then he/she ascends to the Golden City, except it's tainted so he's probably going to turn into a magister-level darkspawn.

It would be cool if the story tied into the Golden City somehow. One of the more intriguing questions of the series.

Who knows, perhaps his fade power will allow him to walk the "Black City" unscathed? Get some answers.

There is a post game so I doubt that the Inquisitor is going to die in the end.

If the Inquisitor is Jesus that won't be an issue.

Comparing every character to every disciple might be over thinking it, it may be as simple as the inquisitor sacrificing himself in the end to close the final tear

As long as we don't have something like that, or end up with a "speculation!" type ending for Inquisition, then good.

Hey, that's offensive
Besides, Christian parallel s and ideas are ingrained both in western mentality, culture and art. You may hate it, but it's still there

I feel like the devs are just joking and pulling our legs here.  As usual, someone on the Bioware Forums doesn't recognize a joke when they see one.  The iconic lineup in the Inquisition has been used in countless other films and movies.  Even if it were a direct reference to "The Last Supper," that doesn't mean or confirm that each of the companions are an allegory for one of Jesus' disciples.  Bioware is far more original than that to do something that lazy.

I really don't think Bioware is going to willingly wade into ME3-level backlash again.

Matthew-A Jew who worked for the Romans as a tax collector. To the Jewish people he was considered a traitor because they rejected Rome's rule over Israel. They were also known for ripping the people off since any amount they took over the limit the Romans asked for was their salary.

Simon, a Zealot. These were activist like people. They demanded action. His personality was one that would see the overthrow of the Roman Empire so that Israel could become a nation once more.

Peter suffered from foot in mouth disease. A loveable fisherman, he was always zealous for Jesus but was extremely flawed and very aware of his own failings.

John was the discple whom Jesus loved. He wasn't being prideful. The statement means he was shocked that Jesus loved him. His brother James and him were known as the sons of thunder. They came from a rich family and had well known tempers. He would later become the apostle of love.

Judas was the money changer who was taking money out of the pot when no one was looking. He later betrayed Jesus and committed suicide.

Andrew was Peter's older brother who was put into the background as Peter was put into the spotlight. However, he is known for always bringing people to Jesus.

Phillip was always very logical and would attempt to use his own reason and intellect to figure out situations.

Thomas is known for being a doubter who ultmately became a believer once he saw proof of Jeus' deity.

Jesus is God who came to die for the sins of the entire human race.

Not much is known about the others except that all of them, save John, were martyed for their faith. They tried to boil John in oil but when that didn't work he was banished to an island where he wrote the epistles 1 John -3 John and the book of Revelation. This was during the rule of Cesar Nero, the crazy man who burnt Rome to the ground. Literally.

In regard to Judas... If you take the Ngostic Gospel of Judas into account then Solas would actually be the most loyal companion...and given the nature of the Fade and Ngosticism having similaities then maybe Solas won't betray us, he is the expert on the Fade and Judas in the Ngostic texts is the only one Jesus taught the true Gospel to - so this could align

Or someone watched too many Buffy episodes.  2 official plus a flat-line I think.

I know there are quite a few "someone has to die at the end to make it a great tragic story" out there, but I'm not one of them.  Tragic is over rated, however, as long as it's not the only ending, I'll play it.

Varric, Cole and Solas seem to correspond to Judas, Andrew and Peter respectively.

Varric is in the same pose, has the same colour hair, and is also wearing orange under his armour as Judas.

Solas and Peter are both looking at John / Cass, and both are basically bald.

Then you have the light haired Andrew with the light haired Cole.

Furthermore, we also know from one of the quests shown that Varric gets mighty upset with the Inquisitor if we make a certain desicion.

If we assume that in the end the Inq will have to make a sacrificial decision, perhaps Varric, inkeeping with Judas' suicide, offers to take the Inqs place out of guilt? Just my 2c!

It was recently revealed through twitter that the placement of characters around the table form the new trailer COULD reveal something about events that will take place in the game/characters' personalities.

I can see a betrayal similar to isabella

Also a heroic sacrifice similar to the warden.

I think the Mary Kirby tweet was mostly a joke.

But who knows? They might make some parallels. I wouldn't mind too much if they are done well.

.. And if we don't have to sacrifice ourself no matter what. "COUGH ME3 COUGH"

You can play past the ending of the main plot, being able to go back and clear any zones or quests you skipped. Hard to do that if you die in the climax.
