More than likely the big bad or Corypheus corrupted them to their cause.
Meaning we have to fight back against them.

At this point it's all speculation. We don't even know that the wardens did anything wrong, or if Corypheus is involved with them. For all we know, he just told Hawke that because it's what Hawke'd expect a warden to say in that situation. All we know is that we'll have the chance to attack their base in Inquisition. Which if we didn't, I'd have been disappointed.
