So we know the Fade tears open and demons rain down from the sky. We know these are bad guys. Now, I am speculating that maybe some of the benign spirits may be able to come through these fade tears as well. it's possible they will be allies or just indifferent npcs who have no desire to get involved, but I really think we may see some "good" spirits taking a more active role.

Well what do you all think?

Considering what we see with Wynne (and I suppose Justice before he became Vengeance), it's totally possible. Justice in Awakening wanted to help the Mages and whatnot, while Wynne's spirit had wanted to help her and other people by saving Wynne. So I believe that with that background of seeing two spirits wanting to help humanity (or what have you), it's completely probable that we might see either other bonded mages and spirits, or with the veil rip, we could see spirits totally on their own and no merged with a mage. Personally, I'd like to see spirits without a human. Mostly because it seems that once they merge with a human, they change. The only real example of this is Ander's and Vengeance, but it still stands to reason that something similar happens to other spirits and humans. We can never really tell with Wynne, but that's because 1. We don't really know what she was like before the merge and 2. Her spirit doesn't actively come out much.

I think some spirits might come through but we'll probably see most in the Fade itself

According to Justice, his kind have no desire to go to the mortal world.

But if they are lured out, maybe by the singing lyrium especially since red lyrium (or just regular lyrium) is everywhere in this game, there might be a chance that we see some good spirits in the mortal realm.

Ummm....this is quite tricky.

Spirits are bound by their nature, and the benevolent ones, so called, were only considered as such because they truly had not interest in humanity or the world of mortals, and pitied them if anything. If a spirit of valor entered our world through the rupture, he could not be anything but valorous, meaning he'll all be about glory in battle, duels and so forth, and may easily be just as dangerous to mortals as the demons are, even though he may have absolutely no interest in possessing anyone and may actually consider himself as helping mortals, like the spirit of valor in the mage origin.

I recall the description for the Spirit Warrior spec stated that the spirit traded its powers for a glimpse of the mortal world. So while they may have no intention of possessing anyone, they may come through out of curiosity only to be trapped on the other side. This could lead to missions about using your power to send them back.

now that i think about it, the reason they may have left out blood mage as a spec was because the demons make a contract with the blood mage to get a glimpse of this world, but if they can freely come and go without making the contract, why would they do so with a blood mage?  Same for spirits....  (dont rip me as this is the description of the blood mage class if i remember correctly)

I made a similar post earlier on another thread, i also included how closing the veil with our power might be pissing them off.

I was thinking about this just yesterday. I'm hoping we do get a plotline or two involving a belevolent spirit having come through the breach. Spice things up a little.

Yeah this is one of the things I hope is touched upon during the game. Spirits coming through the fade tears/breach either through curosity or on accident and desire to go back. Spirits of Valor, Justice, Hope, et cetra. Sounds like a smashing good time... not that I want to smash spirits or anything.

If they are indifferent, they probably won't come through the tears in the first place.

I doubt we'd see many.

I do consider it a strange move for a spirit to enter our world in its physical form.
If a spirit possess a thing i our world and then they are killed they just return to the fade. But if their true form is destroyed then the spirit is truly dead (or at least weekend in to a whisp form).
then one must wonder, why risk entering our world and risking their life when they could simply see our world through the safety of the fade...

Ooh, I wouldn't mind rescuing some of those cute wisps we fought in DA:O. Maybe we can establish a shelter?

Perhaps, but I remember Justice saying that spirits like himself have little interest in mortals or the mortal world. They'll help mortals who end up in the Fade (or at least express whatever virtue they embody). If the tears threaten the Fade as well as the mortal world though, or the two sort of merge, I can see them wanting to do something about it.

I'm actually curious if it will affect dead people, like if we might see echoes of them. Like ghosts. Perhaps it's just part of the mythology, but isn't there a thing about dead souls returning to the Fade?

Actually it will effect the dead. For example, in the Exalted plains the dead will rise as spirits possess bodies there causing many to avoid the area.
