You got to admit, the veil and mages REALLY DO cause a lot of problems.

Tevinter, an evil totalitarian state where mages rule with abolute power and where slavery, abuse and murder are perfectly acceptable if done by the the high class.

Par Vollen, an evil totalitarian state where mages are slaves and condemned to a miserable life or hardship and suffering.

Hmm, in-between those two I'm happier with the messy status quo.

Oh most assuredly so.

The mages with ill intent who use blood magic are as bad as any other cutthroat or miscreant.

The mages who turn to blood magic when they are facing their death sget a pass in most circumstances, I'm speaking specifically of what we've seen in the narrative.

To blame mages for 'fighting dirty' is amongst the most arrogant bs I've seen spewed on this forum.

I'm not saying there aren't bad mages out there who use blood magic to get ahead and gain power.

But that many mages have been turning to it lately out of fear and desperation. Blood magic is a powerful tool and all is fair in love and war and they are warring with the templars.

I've been reading about how even if mages are free the rate of abominations won't change if not increase however there's one society that has free mages and doesn't seem to have a problem with abominations and that's Tevinter. That country is completely ruled by mages and yet there are no abominations ever mentioned. Even Fenris the biggest anti-Tevinter character ever made never spoke of abominations in that country now why do you think that is? Its because the Mages in Tevinter are free and don't feel despite enough in their life to through their lives away on the hope that they might get something out of it.

Another society that has Mages as their leaders is the elves. Each clan has two keepers who act as the leaders of their clans and they aren't overwhelmed by Abominations in fact there system has been functioning for thousands of years.

I know these two clear examples of mages being both free and not having mass abominations running around is going to be glossed over completely especially with the people who want to genocide all mages and have a wonderful death culture of slaughtering children who have magic, but there's clearly ways to have free mages and the world doesn't go insane. The only thing we have to fear in this situation is fear itself.

except he did mention abomnation in tevinter and no suprise it often happens also apparently in WoT there is magister who experimented with blood magic and turned into abomnation...

Nation when 90 % of mages are blood mages have to just no way it could be otherwise high abomnation count thinking otherwise is just naive... not mention that most mages in tevinter are power hungry and deal with demon can give you plenty of power...

As far only country with mages ends as dystopia (twice) that says a lot not mention that even small communities like dales have huge problem with mages despite having them a little like zathrian or marethar, merril or velanna. Not mention that tevinter brought world on edge of destruction with 7 blights add to that love for disasters that mages have it isn't pretty.

Who cares? Tevinter stands, magisters prosper. Just need to destroy those pesky Qunari, and everything will be even better.

yeah very awsome....

Any sane person that don't want abomnations who will burn world or next blight-like disaster?

Yes Qunari crushed them almsot entirely they had to hide in ther capital when well i hate qunari at least they won't destroy world so well i would pick qunari over tevinter.

Fenris and well logic so well both...

As fenris said and pretty much series tell us to survive and keep power in tevinter you need blood magic to match other mages and fenris even told us that only mages in tevinter that aren't blood mages are those who whine how powerless they are so likely slaves. Another indication is lambert who hold grude when even his friend was blood mage to reach power (black divine now) in their quest to clean tev from blood magic.

Nah, on the contrary, with practice mages rock. Shame those scrubs didn't practice enough.

Everybody makes mistakes, then you learn and become better. Some experimental rituals will always end badly, but hey - for science.

Again please don't spout Chantry propaganda like mages starting the Blight when we know for a fact the tale they tell us is inaccurate. We don't know what caused the Blight period. What we do know is without mages the world would have been destroyed by the Blight. Without the blood magic that was used to make the joining potion there would be no Grey Wardens and without the Grey Wardens the Darkspawn can't be stopped.  So the only thing we know for sure is that mages and blood magic saved the world 7 times. Mages are also the only reason the Qunari didn't concurred all of Thedas and the entire world isn't under a super communist society with no freedoms. So mages saved the world 8 times.

I'm not saying that Abominations don't happen in Tevinter I'm saying that they don't occure in a large amount otherwise the Tevinter government would fall apart.  They are capable to having free mages without the risk of their country being destroyed by it or even coming close. Let us not forget Tevinter is the oldest human society on Thedas they didn't last for thousands of years by being a country of Abominations running all over the streets. The Dales is the oldest society in Thedas and their problems with Abomination clearly aren't as grave as you make it otherwise they wouldn't have lasted thousands of years.
