You got to admit, the veil and mages REALLY DO cause a lot of problems.

Nah, on the contrary, with practice mages rock. Shame those scrubs didn't practice enough.

Everybody makes mistakes, then you learn and become better. Some experimental rituals will always end badly, but hey - for science.

1.Yeah second was grey warden and third group were blood mages cultists so well...

2.Yes everbody makes mistakes but just mages make so destructive mistakes i don't remember any other nation creation world destructive disaster like blight or just tried summon army of demons... As i said many times blood magic is done to be evil (devs even admited they wanted to be pure evil) and and probably makes you nuts (like reaver) and that would explain a lot.So no last thing i would need is nation of insane psychos in power... (now think about entire world of da 2 mages hehe)

Fenris and well logic so well both...

As fenris said and pretty much series tell us to survive and keep power in tevinter you need blood magic to match other mages and fenris even told us that only mages in tevinter that aren't blood mages are those who whine how powerless they are so likely slaves. Another indication is lambert who hold grude when even his friend was blood mage to reach power (black divine now) in their quest to clean tev from blood magic.

But wasn't he talking specifically about magisters? And isn't he the same guy who absolutely despises mages and will find fault in the majority of them? Is he not the same person who ratted out Emile de Launcet to Meredith out of spite?

Awfully specific number for such a wild assumption about a place we haven't even been to. Not to mention that the only people we've heard about it from are drinking the Chantry koolaid or dislike mages in general.

So let me get this straight...... Not all mages are the same... But the uneven presentation of mages is bad writing, since it makes all mages seem different, and not pure morally good....

Something doesn't add up in that line of thought....

Again please don't spout Chantry propaganda like mages starting the Blight when we know for a fact the tale they tell us is inaccurate. We don't know what caused the Blight period. What we do know is without mages the world would have been destroyed by the Blight. Without the blood magic that was used to make the joining potion there would be no Grey Wardens and without the Grey Wardens the Darkspawn can't be stopped.  So the only thing we know for sure is that mages and blood magic saved the world 7 times. Mages are also the only reason the Qunari didn't concurred all of Thedas and the entire world isn't under a super communist society with no freedoms. So mages saved the world 8 times.

I'm not saying that Abominations don't happen in Tevinter I'm saying that they don't occure in a large amount otherwise the Tevinter government would fall apart.  They are capable to having free mages without the risk of their country being destroyed by it or even coming close. Let us not forget Tevinter is the oldest human society on Thedas they didn't last for thousands of years by being a country of Abominations running all over the streets. The Dales is the oldest society in Thedas and their problems with Abomination clearly aren't as grave as you make it otherwise they wouldn't have lasted thousands of years.

I don't care who they are, we both see how bad they are. I've also seen strong mages and blood mages that were miles more competent. Hell even Jowan floored the first enchanter, the knight commander and a bunch of templars, he was a better blood mage than those scrubs.

Yeah, I am an insane powerful psycho, watch out, rawr. Mages will take over the world, and you can't stop us. 026.gif

Mages, magic, demons, shades, etc...are extremely dangerous to the common people and mages are even a danger to themselves. I am pro circle but also pro reform, extreme reform.

The Chantry won't be anywhere near the circles if they must return, and if they do return they will be boarding schools not permanent internment camps.

If Bioware will be so reasonable.

As i said many times blood magic is done to be evil (devs even admited they wanted to be pure evil)

You forget people like Merril who just view it as another form of magic, or the kirkwall circle who turned to it in desperation when the templars started to go all crazy and abusive.

Kinda.. But a few pages ago, people were busy complaining about the generalization of amges, while in almsot the same sentence complaining about the vst differences in the portrayal of individual mages.... I mean... Which is it? Are all mages the same or are they not, make up your minds people!

The Golden City was already tainted before the Magisters even got there so using our friend basic logic they didn't cause the Blight.

Go find the person that made the Golden City black then blame that person like any reasonable person would.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I always think that picture when Tevinter and Blight relationship is brought up. It was supposed to not be fully serious.

However, logic dictates that they still brought the Taint back with them, as evidenced by everything about Corypheus, so only the first part of the story isn't true.

To be fair about this particular point:

1) Devs did a really bad job if that was their intention.

2) Now they go and retcon stuff, which I don't really like,

But hey, it's their world. I don't really care. I personally think blood magic is for weak mages anyway, that don't have enough natural power to cast stronger spells without it, though I guess it's a good way to conserve mana.

But that's not blood magic and neither are the phylacteries when it suits mundane purposes. Or did you not know?

Indeed. Though I don't think they made the City black, they still brought the damn Taint back with them.

The use of phylacteries IS blood magic. Hell, even DG has said it is.

Yeah. Blood magic is when blood is used by mages for mages, cuz magic is supposed to serve man and never rule over.

I'm thinking more like how the world is in Harry Potter, where the circle would be like a school that you can graduate from or fail and have to stay until you pass, etc... and you can't just go around terrifying or enslaving regular people. Terror and permanent imprisonment make the threat of blood magic and possession a million times worse because people become desperate and do things they wouldn't otherwise.

Untrained mages should not be roaming free, mages who have proved themselves to be psychos should not be roaming free, mages that are very weak willed should have someone with them to help them against demons and such.
