Im curious of what the visuals would look like. When they say wraped in protective magic in the discription. Does that mean something similar to mass effect's tech-armor but composed of mystical energy?
This is what I am hoping for, or maybe something like the armor spells from Skyrim that just add a glow. As for the blades, I'm hoping for summoned weapons. My hope for these though is that we can affect the type of damage said weapon does. Maybe it would do the same type of damage as your staff. Either way, I'm hoping for more focus on magic weapons and armor rather than a return of Arcane Warrior. It would give it more of a unique feel. I personally want to equip some armored robes on my knight enchanter, then layer protective magic on top of that and summon a magic weapon. To me it maintains more of a combat mage feel than just slapping on heavy armor and grabbing a sword.

If the "weapon"is summoned would it look similar to a lightsaber? But composed entirerly of mystical energy; Even the "hilt"?

I'd guess not, it probably is something like the fade weapons made by the spirit of Valor from the Mage origin in DA:O. Then again it could be real weapons magically enhanced, you never know. Guess we'll see in October.

What's this talk about a necromancy branch? I'm quite fond of the arcane warrior so knight enchanter sounded nice but if we're getting into necromancy, and I mean creating large numbers of undead servants, I may be rethinking my specialty. I never quite understood what people have against necromancy so long as we're not talking about enslaving someone's soul. It's always better to sacrifice a horde of lifeless husk to soften up or defeat the enemy then your actual living troops in my opinion.

Good point.

That is what I was thinking, something along the lines of summoned weapons in Skyrim. Maybe a sword that is translucent and glowing. hopefully we will get different models though, I would hate getting stuck with it if the model they use for it is one of the ugliest swords in the games. I also hope we can use both 1 handers and 2 handers.

I find it hard to believe a demon would make a deal with the Inquisitor for blood magic if he/she is the one closing the veil since seeing our world is what they've always wanted!
Also, back to the topic: Knight Enchanter sounds similar however any mage can wear heavy armor since the class restrictions are gone (like in Origins) whether that means stat restrictions are still in game and the knight enchanter will lessen that amount remains to be seen.
As for spells, I can see this spec using aura like protection spells and close to medium range spells for fighting in the fray to buff allies and hit all of their targets effectively.
DA ][ did not have armor class restrictions.
A mage could wear armor if they had the necessary strength--just like Origins.
So nothing has changed there.
As for me, I hope it IS the arcane warrior, back and just as OP as ever.

Sounds like it could be similar to the vanguard class from Mass Effect, where our magic will be more suited for up close and personal encounters. We might even get a magical charge ability

Sounds like time for a little Biotic fisting, then.

I am hoping for something more along the lines of sentinel, presenting the ability to get up close and personal with massive damage resistance.

If Knight Enchanter does indeed turn out to be something like Arcane Warrior I'll definitely buy this game and even the collectors edition.

they have taken blood magic off the market, but have made the necromancer class the more evil class... knight enchanter sounds a lot like arcane warrior, but i see it more in the form of the elder scrolls bound weapon and armor spells, cause weapons and armor of arcane force doesnt sound like physical armor and weapons to me, but some conjured up from the fade
so you think someone up there, in the fade, is smithing weapons, and armor just in case some douche wants them, they would just poof them away? In skyrim the bound weapons and armor already exist in oblivion. You are literally borrowing them, but not permenantly

Bad English and pointlessly insulting...welcome to the internet I suppose.

You are being too literal. The idea of bound weapons/armor is what is being referenced, not the lore. The speculation is that rather than equipping physical weapons and armor we will create them out of magical energy that will appear to look like something along the lines of Skyrim bound weapons. Also, if you want to be needlessly critical there was no bound armor in Skyrim. The closest was alteration armor spells, which didn't summon armor. Visually they only made you glow green.

It sounds like a proper counterbalance to a templar.

that is what i meant. its not the physical form and lore im trying to say they recreate, im just saying that maybe it looks like that... no physical weapon, but one created from fade power that looks similar.... besides the god of blacksmithing has better things to do... like being a smith

I'm really happy about this. Seems they've brought back the arcane warrior in a way for it to be similar but different enough.
Thanks bioware!

So does anybody else think the one on the left mat be a Knight Enchanter? I would be pretty happy with something like this as the "blade of arcane force" I just hope we can change the type of damage it deals to take advantage of weaknesses.

Sentinel was my favorite ME class, so a defensive caster spec sounds pretty neat to me.
Likewise.
Seems promising.

Magic in DA:O is literally about making stuff real with your mind. Making fire real, or making pointy sharp things real... not much of a difference.
