Er, I would wait and see how it actually plays out before passing any kind of judgement.

I'm sure the game will have a trial by fire moment that proves the Inquisitor is capable of leading the Inquisition.

I don't think you just walk out of the Fade and get handed the Inquisition, I assume you somehow prove yourself to Cassandra to make her believe you are the best person to lead, also the whole "I am the only one who can close the Veil tears due to a magic brand on my hand," thing probably works in your favour.

We didn't need that Fade-hand-thingy in previous games to close the tears in the Veil.

The inquisitor walks out of the fade, is taken into custody by Cassandra and her seekers.

Later, while in a waiting room while Cassandra, Leliana, and other important people are discussion the current situation, the Inquisitor takes a book from the shelf to read to pass the time.

The book turns out to be a history of the inquisition. After reading it for a few moments, the Inquisitor looks up, inspired, and says aloud, "No one will expect this."

Chances are the Breaches are unique types of Veil Tears.

Cassandra: "Traaaaaaaaaaiiil 1! I want you to beat the crap out of all these generic soldiers that will keep respawing until I say otherwise!"

Casandra: "Traaaaaaaaaaiiil  2! Hunger has broken out among the ranks. As it happens, you have recently bought a nug for your LI who happens to love nugs. Do you sacrifice the nug as food for the soldiers and as a result your LI will break up with you or will you not give a crap and let the soldiers die!"

Cassandra: "Traaaaaaaaaaiiil 3! What.....is my favorite colour!"

Simple. When hold at the sword point by Cass our hero will yell 'I am your leader now!'. Since no one ever expected that, they decide that such raw talent can't go to waste and immiediately give us the job. ;)

there small veil tears this is a breach. and we've seen what it takes to close a small tears this is a different beast all together.

we give an epic speech:

"I have come from the breach to stop these demons that seek nothing other then to conquer. These things do not care for your petty war's, flags, countries or people, I'm here to save you! so show some respect. *pushes sword aside*

War is not coming, It is here and like it or not it must be fought! I need an army, so look around because you are that army. Make no mistake it will be a long and perilous journey. Right now we are surrounded by the dead and there are some who are alive at this moment who will join them should you sign on. Those who do not wish to go on this journey, and I will not send you. As for the others follow me and we will drive the enemy out of our world. Wipe them out if we have to. If you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory and you will live to see home again.

your lands are steeped in history. From the destruction of arlathen to the fall of the imperium. The rise of an Andraste to the blights, countless wars and rebellions. But this is no time to tread lightly. You will see things that no man could pay to see and you will have to go a long way to find anything more horrifying or depraved then the demons of the fade. You will feel Death's very embrace! you will see refugees fleeing their own country. people will be poor and desperate but in years to come they will know that the light of liberation in their lives was brought by you.

We will sustain casualties in this war. But remember, When these people woke up and got dressed in the morning they did not plan to die this day. Allow them dignity in death. Bury them properly and mark their graves.

It is my foremost intention to bring every single one of you out alive but there may be people among us those who will not see the end of this campaign. We will put them in the earth and send them back to the maker. There will be no time for sorrow.

The enemy should be in no doubt that we are their nemesis and that we are bringing about their rightful destruction. Well will drive the enemy back into the fade as well as anyone who stands in our way. The forces of evil will be destroyed by this coalition, This...Inquisition for what they have done. As they die they will know their deeds have brought this upon them. Show them no pity.

There may be times when we have to take even mortal lives. It is not to be done lightly. I know of men who have taken life needlessly in other conflicts, I can assure you they live with the Mark of Maferath upon them. If someone surrenders to you then remember show mercy send them back to their families.

But for the ones who wish to fight, well, we aim to please.

Always remember the Inquisition is just! If you harm the Inquisitions or its history by cowardice, know it is your family who will suffer. You will be shunned unless your conduct is of the highest order for your deeds will follow you down through history. We will bring shame on neither our uniform or our organisation.

Left to its own devices the enemy will kill each and everyone of you. It is not a question of if, it's a question of when. We know they have already slain thousands. we survived the first strike, we will survive this attack.

I ask nothing less then each and everyone of you follow me as we drive them back into the breach. NOW! who's with me?"

*turns around only cassandra is still around everyone else has fled*

"well, that went well"

We don't get handed the inquisition immediately or without reason, we have to prove ourselves as a leader ( stated by the devs including Laidlaw), show them that we can close the rifts due to our power that we got from our time in the fade, my guess is after we close a rift it signals the antagonist who comes and shows himself or herself and kicks us in the head according to Cameron Lee.

All of these thing's combined is why we get made the inquisitor and reboot the inquisition, since everyone else is preoccupied with infighting, pointing fingers at each other, running around like a chicken without a head, the civil wars, nations riseing against each other etc is all apart of it aswell.

Sometimes the leader is only good at fighting, it just means he has to surround himself with reliable people who can run the day to day operations so the leader can fight... more than likely cassandra realizes this and decides to bring in some help for such a reason

Well Leliana and alot of other people will probably think we were sent by the maker. The devs mentioned something along those lines.

That's a good start atleast, lol.

I myself am curious as to we're going to be made the leader, i'd argue that in this situation it'd be more likely we'd be aprehended, interrogated and then used as a "weapon/tool" to solve the fade tear problem.

Ah yes. We've seen a two minute trailer. From this it's child's play to extrapolate the entire first act of the game. Or something.

Interesting.

With the Chantry apparently leaderless and in disarray, I wonder if the Inquisitor ends up like a second Andraste.

Inquisitor becomes the Grey Divine.

Semi-confirmed rumor.
