Hi all, i would like to start the game again, which mods do you suggest i should not miss ?

I have all the expansions.

I would like to install above all some mods to improve graphics, to make the UI better and to fix bugs (if there are any)

Many thanks if you can help.

P.S. Should i play the main campaign or some of the many "Modules" i see around ?

There aren't any holistic graphics improvements, but the game can actually look pretty good on its own. Many custom modules look significantly better than the OC, especially when it comes to itemization. For UI, you can get extended hotbars and some complete redos on the vault, but nothing that would be considered an improved version of the original.

I also second rpgplayer1's spell fixes. I think the most recent spell fix pack is the one here: http://nwvault.ign.c...ts.Detail&id=99 which was updated a couple years ago. Careful with these, though, some of the changes (like sneak attack damage to negative level touch attacks) are ridiculously overpowered in the OC.

I'd highly recommend playing the first two campaigns. They're fun, voice acted, and open to whatever modding you want to install, particularly PRC packs and the like. Never liked SOZ. After that, there are some other great modules on the vault (dark waters comes to mind, but there are literally hundreds of hours worth of other ones). If multiplayer tickles your fancy, nwnlist.com is the way to find active servers. There are still active servers in the role playing, social, and story categories for both nwn1 and nwn2.

Absolutely you should play a community mod. Many are much better than the OC anyways.

Thank you for the replies. I will download them.

Pj156, maybe you meant "you should play a community module" ? I know what mods are, but not sure about modules...are they like user made campaigns ? if so, what character level should i have, can i start a new character with them or should i play first the main campaign?

Kevl, you mean this one? rpgplayer1's spell fixes  http://nwvault.ign.c...ts.Detail&id=85

What about a GUI one ? Not needed?

What do you think of these other ones mentioned here? (there are many graphical ones that, as stated before, i would like to add).

cheers for the help

Recommended level and class varies from module to module.  They usually tell you what level range would be best, and many give you the option to auto-level to an appropriate level if you use a character that isn't high enough.

"Mod" can be used to mean "module" or "modification".  The user-made adventures (or campaigns) are usually called modules.

What about a GUI one ? Not needed?

Well, not to toot my own horn, but you could try this one.

For what it's worth, here are the most endorsed NWN2 modules on Nexus. It might be slightly more informative to list the most endorsed per total downloads, but there you go.

I second Tony K's AI and Xaltar's Facelift Pack, as mentioned in that other page. I haven't tried all the mods listed there.

I use a mix of several UI mods, but mainly Tchos' high-resolution ones and "Lite UI", IIRC (search for it on the Vault). You may like or dislike the latter, but I see no reason not to use the former.

In order to save some time and make the game less annoying, I also suggest "Metaprepa", and if you play a warlock, the "Warlock Buddy".

If you want to add countless new classes, spells and stuff, there's Kaedrin's pack. It modifies many things, so you may love it or hate it.

Also, Skywing's Client Extension.

Since he didn't promote them himself, I will. PJ's modules are some of the best you can find (though there are many others). If you play the official campaign, consider using Kaldor Silverwand's Makeover, which adds some of the features from the expansions.

yes, that's the one i meant.. But Reeron & Trekari's (mentioned by Psionic-Entity) looks far more complete, and both cannot be used - at least not without plenty of toolset fiddling, i figure. Note that Kaedrin's PrC ClassPack contains rpgplayer1's fixes, i believe.

so, it's really your decision. The first rule of add-ons is, beware of duplicate files: they'll try to hide, in override, in haks, in campaign folders .....

Thanks dude, and to all the others who replied. Will need to make a scheme i guess, it is getting complicated...especially with the compatibility when u install more mods.

What are PRC and SOZ ? please don't use abbreviations with me if you can :)

Will reply to the others later.

thanks again (also for the multiplayer hint)

PRC = Prestige class.
SoZ = Storm of Zehir (2nd expansion).

I don't use any spell fix mod so I may be wrong here, but I believe player1's just *fixes* things as per the descriptions, whereas Reeron's changes some of the rules, like making some more spells persistable.

Reeron's include's player1's stuff if I recall correctly, and it's formatted in a way that makes it very modular. Since only script files are imported it doesn't conflict with any of the big packs that add prestige classes or other gameplay elements, and the script are posted to the vault in packs with very user-friendly descriptions. You can choose to simply fix bugs, to make spells behave as they do in pen and paper dnd, or to add some extra content on top of all that.

If you're really in to dnd and want an "authentic" dnd experience, the extended spell pack will help that a lot. If you're really in to allowing tons of homebrew classes and feats, Kaedrin's pack is another good pick, and completely compatible with just about everything else people are suggesting here, including some user-generated modules.

another question. But about the prestige classes mods, aren't those classes already included in the official expansions ?

Should i install additional classes or will there be conflicts?

To be honest, i think there is already enough  material to have fun for me, i do not need too many classes and too much content, will not have time anyway.

The vanilla game comes with many classes already. The expansions added a few more. Some unofficial mods, like Kaedrin's, add even more on top of that. There may be conflict with other mods, and even with some unofficial modules (i.e. campaigns/adventures), but not with the base game. For instance, if you install Kaedrin's pack (there's no "should" or "shouldn't", it's up to you), don't install other bug fixes on top.

As for Reeron's, even the fixes-only version makes some important changes besides adjusting spells to their descriptions, and it may feel like cheating to some people. I don't recommend against it, but I've personally reached a point where I just accept the game bugs and roll with them.

A well-tested expansion pack that included just the most popular enhancements and fixes would be a nice addition. (Like the NWN1 Community Patch.) But it would need somebody willing to maintain and enhance it.

None at all.

My player made game list will be much different as I am the oldest serving poster here save for a few others who lurk mostly.

Even I showed up 3 years after nwn2 was out so who knows.

But definitely try Asphyxia, Harp & Chrysanthemum, Fate of a City.

Hi all, I have just restarted (finally) the official campaign. Without mods, I noticed that the wizard casts the spells really badly, and she immediately used the scrolls she had (i would have kept them and written them to the spellbook), So i installed Tony K's IA.

I have extracted the files in a subfolder of "override" (as in the instructions) that i simply called "IA". How do i know if the mod is actually working ?

Also, is there a way to respec my main character ?

I haven't used TonyK's AI, but the settings to prevent your spellcaster from casting spells in overkill, and using scrolls, is the same place as it is without TonyK's AI -- in the character sheet for that character, under the "Behaviour" tab.

( you'll know Tony's AI is installed if the Behavior tab grows twice as long )
