Just to report that it's better not to implement the "showhelmet" stat.

I had read this and i can confirm it. It causes nasty clipping effects.

Elanee's hair coming out from any helmet, so you find yourself with a part of the helmet that shows up and another one not. Like if the helmet was melt in her head.

The bold Khelgar looks quite normal for obvious reasons. But even there i could see a part of his bold head showing up out of his helmet sometimes.

I did not try with the other ones but i am sure it's the same for anyone having hair (or horns) .

Too bad they could not fix this during the game development and they just decided to add a  "nevershowhelmet=1" instead.

Cheers

Yep - the 'hair' on the companion heads is part of the head mesh, rather than the separate hair model that players can choose (and that most helmets cause to disappear).

And as for Khelgar; he may be 'bold', but he sure aint beautiful.

thanks for the technical explanation, i did not know the difference, then probably it was an easy solution to implement also for companions..

Oh yes, he is bald, not bold ! :)

The developers seems to have learned their lesson in Mask of the Betrayer. Safiya avoided the problem by having no hair at all, but the heads for Gann and Kaelyn had separate hair models that would disappear properly if a helmet was equipped.

After installing the most popular mods from Tchos UI, Tony K's AI, NelMc textures and Xaltar heads to name a few,

I found two conflicting files from Tchos UI & Tony K's AI 2.2.

"characterscreen.xml"

"creatureexamine.xml"

They are currently in their own separate folder. Is this fine or should I delete one or the other?

If they're both in the override, one is going to overwrite the other. I can't tell you which to remove, unfortunately.

Never got to finished the game back when I bought it. Now I have decided to pick it up again and mod it up...but so far I have been spending more time in the override folder than in the realm itself, due to duplicate files.

Hoping that maybe Tchos himself can patch in a few lines, seeing he commented in this thread already.

Taking a closer look on the files you would need to either give up the HD ui panel from Tchos or the added behaviours in the "Behaviour" tab from Tony.

A workaround would be to edit every single line in Tony's characterscreen.xml with updated x/y values from Tchos. If that even works.

Wherever you got my mod, there should also be the optional pack of files called "TonyK's Companion and Monster AI compatibility patch", where I applied my changes to TonyK's versions of those files, so you use those and remove the others, so the two work together.  On the Nexus site, it's under "optional files".

I picked your mod up from the nexus site but I completely missed the optional compatibility file. Wonderful, Thank you a bunch, Tchos.
