I ask because of this news related to Minecraft:

I really hope Bioware can get something like this for Mass Effect.

If they did do this, I would hope they release a Genesis style DLC as well for those of us who will be switching console brands.

It would be nice if Bioware/EA developed something like Dragon Age Keep for NME that is platform agnostic.  You put your data in a cloud and download it from the cloud on to your new platform.

That notwithstanding, I don't know if they'll do a Genesis thing.  It may just be a web based world builder thingamabob like Dragon Age Keep.

nevermind that, they should create a graphically enhanced ME1. it's sorrily needed, combat is godawful and graphics are abysmal. going from ME1 to ME2 feels like playing a completely different game. I was actually shocked at how different ME2 looked when I first played it straight after completing my first ME1 playthrough.

don't even think about recommending the "improved graphics" mod. it's highly unstable and uses up a ton of CPU. not everyone has a $2000 graphic card.

I'd rather they focused their efforts and resources on the future and not the past.

It is completely possible. We don't have the information yet though.

That's not how it works.

They will do something like Dragons Keep.

Highly doubt they will bother with a save transfer, as so many people are upgrading to next gen / switching company, just easier for them to not bother wasting time on it.

I'd imagine save transfer will be back for ME5 and 6 though.

It's possible I guess, but I also feel if they do anything it will be something more akin to Dragon's Keep, wherein you're able to create save file states irrespective of platform, rather than use raw save file data. Even if they were to use the latter I figure they'd need to convert the content first. Trilogy used standard UE3 save file compiling, Frostbite 3 is a different engine and wouldn't be able to read them natively. So they'd either need to have some kind of upload->convert->import tool, or Dragon Keep-esque save-file-maker with a bunch of status flags.

I'm very much in the "it's a sequel" camp, but even so I don't believe the timeline matters much in the long run, because I don;t think save file importing from the trilogy will be anywhere on the list of priorities. The team at Montreal as well as folk at Edmonton have made it clear that their title is a mostly fresh start for the series and the Shepard trilogy (this means more than "Commander Shepard", including all the themes, narrative threads, context, characters, etc) has come to their complete conclusion. Importing across the trilogy was necessary for obvious, thematic and content related reasons. Importing Origins+2 into Inquisition at least has some merit as the time passed in the narrative window between each game is small and several characters are known to reappear. But trilogy->ME4? Nah. Maybe as a gimmick, but I'm not expecting anything of significance, as everything moving forward will be largely new ground, and is not supposed to be continuation of your trilogy in the same way ME2 and ME3 were.

Given the XBone and PS4 are x86 based like a PC, I don't see how it wouldn't be posisble to do so in the future (or even have saves swapped between them). Backwards compatability though is a different matter (apart, obviously, from PC).

A thing lke the Dragon Age Keep would probally solve that problem.
