Since we know that all Origin stories happen around the same time in DAO, I thought it would be nice to see other potential PCs whose race and class we didn't select present at the peace talks during the prologue of Inquisition. For example if you pick human as your race, as the blast happens the camera focuses on a Qunari mercenary, a Dalish mage, a dwarven noble all holding hands together as they are incinerated :(

This is of course assuming there is a cutscene or a playable prologue that shows the event of the peace talk.

I think it's a little too late for suggestions but I had to get this scene out of my head. So what do you guys think?

I'd rather not, since it makes the others seem to have 'canon' faces.

Well they don't have necessarily have to show their faces, mine was just an example. Besides if you didn't pick them in Origins, the game assigns those potential PCs their own class and gender anyway. Brosca was a male rogue, and his corpse was seen in Jarvia's cell etc. so they could be using the default preset faces for example.

And to be honest, I didn't like that they did that.

Why?

Why?

Because I don't like the canonization of protagonists. Saying the other origins died is fine. Saying the Dwarf Commoner was male not so much. It's just personal preference.

All I could think of after reading that line was

Spoiler

On Topic,

I don't mind the idea of seeing, other possible race class combos that died at the start as long as you don't see faces and the gender is ambiguous. Preferably it would be entirely optional to see it, as in not making a cutscene focusing on their deaths, just some corpses on the ground would be fine.

Fair enough I guess. Would you mind if they were helmeted and armoured so their gender remains ambiguous?

I was actually watching Toy Story 3 just now when I got this idea lol

As long as anything that can be customized is not revealed, then I approve of it. So things like using only the last name and never specifying gender or appearance works great.

It's an alternate universe.  They're not undoing anything you did in a playthrough where you played a Brosca.

I'll admit I don't derive much value from this sort of feature (since my PC is unaware that he's in a game, let alone that other possible origins exist), but it also causes me no difficulty.

I actually thought the alternate Origin endings, for when you didn't pick those characters, was a nice touch. It's almost like you're a soul choosing one of 6 people whose fates have been sealed. It's as if your interference changes one's fate but the rest will inevitably die. Who cares what gender they were when we didn't pick them? Only the one you picked mattered.

Sounds terribly pointless.

People tend to want some kind of human contact by their side when faced with their impending death.

But they don't need to be holding hands, it was just an idea I got while watching Toy Story 3.

That makes it sound like they're all bosom buddies though.

Actually, that's not a bad idea.

Given how different the male and female qunari builds are, that wouldn't be possible for them.

That was actually something I didn't like in Origins. It was too depressing for me :/ I'd rather the other wardens you didn't play didn't exist (ex: the only Cousland child is Fergus if you don't play HN), it made me sad to think of all the others as dead. I hope there isn't anything like that in DA:I.
