Shep:EDI. Apologies to joker, but in the same way Tali will talk about being impressed with shep when he saved her on the citadel, and again on Haestrom, and again during her trial (if he exonerates her and doesn't give up her father's data), I like to think all EDI's conversations where shep can encourage her 'growth' as a person, would impress EDI too. I could see her falling for him (or her).

Eh... I don't really think anyone should be sexing the sexbot. Shepard does a good job outlining the reasons if you encourage Joker to simply be friends with her. She lacks the maturity, so to speak, for that kind of thing.

The sexbot thing is just what it is. EDI could have had any appearance and it wouldn't matter. She's still EDI.

Perhaps. I don't think you're giving EDI enough credit. I think she was child-like when she first became aware on Luna, it's been three years+ since then. Just because she was shackled by Cerberus for most of it doesn't mean she was ignorant. She enters into a relationship with Joker readily enough. I don't think she's going into that with her eyes closed, or that she feels pressured to do something she's uncomfortable with. She's the one who first broaches the subject with shep on the citadel, after all.

So she simulates an emotional attachment without really feeling it.

 

If you play a femshep, and talk to joker in purgatory about his possible relationship with EDI, the option is there to have shep say, "It's possible you've overlooked other options..." The tone of her voice suggests she's just teasing  joker, but... I dunno why shep (m or f) couldn't have had that same conversation with EDI, and have it not be teasing.

 

If "love" is just an experiment to EDI anyway, theoretically she should be just as open to shep as a partner. It makes all the subsequent conversations with EDI, especially at the FOB in London, where she tells shep she finally feels alive, have a different resonance.
