I'm not a big fan of shipping characters, unless it actually makes sense. Most fan-shipping though has characters out-of-character, or hooking up with people they dislike.

 

Assuming they were unromanced in ME3 (or not paired with the squaddies they eventually hook up with in game) here are some pairings I think could have worked...

 

Liara & Kaidan

 

Tali and Kal'Reegar

 

Garrus & Nyreen

 

Chakwas and Adams

 

Traynor and Kelly Chambers

They seemed cute together and he seemed really protective of Tail and she of him.

I'm still confused, why they went with Tail and Garus hooking up.....

After Liara is recruited in ME1 Shepard and Kaidan will have a brief chat about the new squadmate. Kaidan will say something to the effect that "she is easy on the eyes, if you're into that sort of thing." I don't recall now whether that line is also present during Fem Shep playthroughs. In either case Shepard can then follow that up by joking that he saw her first, and Kaidan will reply only by a minute. That last exchange is definitely only present in Male Shep playthroughs.

 

Beyond that they are both paragons with very similar world views. Also if Kaidan is killed by Shepard or one of the squadmates during the Cerberus coup, Liara will say afterwards that Kaidan was the nicest to her of the human Normandy SR1 crew, and that his being a biotic helped her see the humans as being less 'alien.'

 

Out of all the characters that fans ship I'd argue that those two would probably have made the most sense, assuming of course that both were not involved with Shepard in ME3. I'd even go a step further and say that a Liara-Kaidan pairing would have made more sense than Team Dextro shacking up, as Garrus and Tali didn't get along too well in ME1.

Thanks, I need to play man Shepard lol. I agree with Tali/ Garrus hooking up part I was just confused. They seemed not too get along anytime I had them on my squad together. It seems out character for pairing requires to much things to happen off screen. As such, when I saw her interactions with Kal'Reegar was surprised. He seemed like a good match for her as well compared too Garrus.
