That Jacob comic looks more like a Carl Weathers comic, or perhaps a very awkward encounter between Mako and Stacker Pentecost.

Out of all the characters that fans ship I'd argue that those two would probably have made the most sense, assuming of course that both were not involved with Shepard in ME3. I'd even go a step further and say that a Liara-Kaidan pairing would have made more sense than Team Dextro shacking up, as Garrus and Tali didn't get along too well in ME1.

 

The only thing I can think of here is that she was involved with Kal'Reeger and needed someone when he died, but since Shep was unavailable she just decided to hook up with the closest thing to Shep that she could get her hands on i.e. Garrus. Also, I suppose you could take Garrus's ribbing of Tali in ME2 as flirty, in a "they're arguing so they must like each other" kind of way. It's still a bit of a stretch though. She really should have ended up with Kal if she wasn't romancing Shep.

 

Also, a badass like Kal'Reegar deserved an equally badass on screen death.

You can ship Kaidan/Liara, but it isn't in the game in any way.

I was just pointing out that the writers could have had Liara and Kaidan hook up in unromanced playthroughs and it would be believable, wouldn't be out-of-character, and would have made more sense than some of the other pairings that are potentially part of the canon. 

 

I also think Kaidan would make a lot more sense than the two other characters fans frequently ship with Liara: Javik and Feron.

I mean he finds Liara attractive in the way that almost anyone finds asari attractive in the MEU.

 

"She's pretty and all..." is that I gather.

 

Meanwhile Javik and Liara have what appears to be a potential friendship (no memory shard + full interaction), and Liara upends heaven and earth to try to retrieve Feron as she did Shepard (DLC installed or not).

 

So yeah, you can ship Kaidan/Liara, and the writers could have done something with them, but they haven't at all. A human likes the look of an asari, whoopdidoo. lol

 

1. Shepard, but you can reject it before it really starts

2. Feron, but he can die, or Liara gets too caught up in her life to seriously entertain it yet

3. Javik, but only as a potential that you can guide things into and would still be more headcanony; otherwise it is more antagonistic or neutral

Come to think of it, Ashley and Garrus would probably be a good pairing... if Garrus were human. I don't see Ashley getting around that - which is perfectly fine.

I still think he would make more sense than either Feron or Javik. Liara makes it clear she has no romantic interest in Feron in LotSB and Javik and Liara are kind of like Miranda and Jack. They are polar opposites and don't get along all that well. Also in the regular game Javik can criticize Shepard for being romantically involved with an Asari, because it won't produce human offspring. Prior to the Citadel DLC Javik views interspecies relationships as pointless. 

 

That being said the Citadel DLC ignored that by having Javik potentially sleep with Fem Shep, ir express some interest in either Jack or Liara, but I'm not sure you can take that content more seriously than the main game. I still feel like Javik's 'canon' personality is outside the DLC.

I had actually read Laria/Kaiden fan fiction and it was pretty good. So I would ship those two if Shepard didn't hook up with either of them. I'm boring since I to ship, those I would find make sense together. In Mass Effect, in non canon parings I ship Kal'Reggar/Tail, Liara/Kaiden, edi/no one, Joker/Shepard. I hated the the sex bot idea with Joker x Edi it's just creepy and unhealthy in my perspective.

Uh, I know what the title of the thread is. I never said one couldn't make a non-canon pairing of them. In fact, I outright said one could make fanfiction about it and that the ingredients are there. lol, no need to be a jerk about it.

^ Han is a Liaramancer so he's gets a little defensive on things like that. I kind of agree that I don't see the Javki/Liara as a good pairing. It felt more of a abusive type of relationship which wouldn't bold well for her..
