But then the token lesbian wouldn't be a token lesbian anymore! Think of the SJWs!
One thing I adore is the impotent rage of SJW's who get absolutely upset over someone like, say, Sam falling for maleshep or Cortez for femshep, yet consider it a great story when anyone who wasn't previously inclined to homosexuality as their orientation suddenly becomes so for a character.
To use other examples, we'll use Torchwood and 007: Goldfinger.
In the first, Ianto Jones, a straight guy, falls in love with the main character, the omni-sexual Captain Jack Harkness, and makes it clear that Jack is the only man he's attracted to. People viewed this as spectacular character growth and 'the power of love', with the straight guy going gay for another man for love.
Yet it happens (albeit with a different value and context behind it) in Goldfinger when Pussy Galore, a lesbian, gets together with Bond (while making it clear that Bond is the only man she'd ever go for). And to this day, it's criticized by the LGBT community as terrible, unrealistic, chauvinist, and as a lemon.
In short, they hold a double standard. It's ok for them to make a straight character go gay for a person, but it's not ok for a gay character to go straight for a person. I can't take that line of thought seriously.
