Help me like the Valkyrie (Gun)

Weirdly, this is the only headshot specific weapon I do ok with (for headshots specifically I mean, I do just fine with the arc pistol I just don't do a lot of headshots with it).  I've used it on the TGI and several other overload characters.  I did okay with it on the Tsol but I don't do well with the Tsol in general so that gimped me a bit with it. 

 

It's been awhile but I think I ran it with ammo capacity and... I'm not sure what else.  I don't usually do the weapon mod slot for stability because I have a crap ton of stability amps.

Thanks guys.  I intend to stick with it for a while to see if I can get the hang of it.  What would you say would be the best mod combination for it on gold for the Quarksman?  I do have ammo issues with it, so thermal clip would be nice, but piercing/extended barrel would help with boss killing, and a scope might be nice to boost the accuracy.

I use the extended mag and the piercing mod

I hate reloading 

If you are going to use AP ammo use the extended barrel

Yeah, I tried around with a variety of different pairs of mods, and that's what I have settled on as well now.

 

I tried the scope on a gold Cerberus/Ghost, but that didn't go well.  In fact, I was told that "you REALLY suck" by a Collector.  Which I found rather amusing because if I was THAT bad, I wouldn't be breaking 100K on a kit I haven't used for ages with a weapon I didn't know how to use effectively.  Especially against Cerberus (my worst faction by a large amount)

 

After that match I switched the scope out for extended barrel, dropped into another Cerberus/Ghost and had a much easier time, then had a very fun Condor/Reapers match.  I'm definitely getting the feel for the Valkyrie now.

this was my first Rare AR that I got and I used it LOT.. moving from a Mattock to this was seamless for me.. but after a few games my fingers cramp.

Valkyrie is ultra rare.

I used a lot on TGI with a scope on for long range
. Easy HSing.

 

Yeah, I use it on Ghost too. It goes pretty well with him. TC for damage boost, overload for easier headshots. I use magazine upgrade and extended barrel, nothing really special.

Use it on the Turian class: Soldier, Sentinel and Ghost. This gun is a beast.

3x headshot damage means you'll quickly down regular mobs with ease, as for bosses, the multiplier has little benefit because few bosses can be headshot, however, this rifle has a high base damage(more than the Harrier) and excellent accuracy, which means the Valkyrie is still handy against any bosses.

 

On different chars, I usually use the following 2 build for this rifle:

Pure damage build(good for Tsol),

extended barrel+mag, equip AP ammo;

Fire damege build(good for Sentinel&Ghost for detonations),

extended mag+AP mod (I don't choose the AP barrel because I want to use my powers more frequently), equip Incendiary ammo.

scope mods suck for the most part. I feel like something else is always a better choice (except for maybe ULM)

The Valkyrie is usable, effective even, but it's not really a weapon to like in a simple way.

 

I'd like it better, though, if it was like the guns in Borderlands where you throw them at the enemy when they're empty. And then they explode.

Mag and barrel with AP ammo, definitely. It's plenty accurate to skip scope, doesn't really kick enough to care about stability (and I would take a consumable for that before a mod slot). The gun needs all the damage you can get on it, barrel+AP is best for that.

I haven't used the scope on the Talon for a while, but if I am using it and a lobby is preset to something that I wan't better range on (such as Hydra) I will consider it, depending on what character I am using it on.  Also, I haven't used it for ages, as I usually prefer the Arc, Paladin, or Eagle if I want a Pistol, or the Wraith or Disciple if I want a lightish shotgun.  In fact I don't think I've used it since I moved up to gold, so it is very possible that I would set it up differently now than I did last time I used it.

Scope + Stabilization Mod on the N7 Destroyer or Turian Soldier. Destroyer may need Stability consumable or Barrage Gear for 100% stability (zero recoil).

I don't use it.. because other mods that I feel are more important compete for those slots.. but it is really, really good. Another weapons that thrive with scopes that you wwouldn't think to put them on are the Punisher, Spitfire and Herpderpicane. Fixes all kinds of recoil and spread issues.

Basically what Silvershroud said.  It's not my default mod on it but if I know I'm going into a game where I'll want the distance, I might switch out to the scope, depending on what class I'm playing.  Recoils hard with the scope (or seems to because of the zoom) and I've gotten used to using it at greater than its intended range so I don't do as often anymore.  But for funsies sometimes.

You know that when you say stuff like this, it insults people who do like it because they have spent the time to learn to use it effectively.

 

I say this, not because I'm a Valkyrie fan (I'm not really), but because I see this kind of casual insult tossed around all the time on BSN. I wonder if you all diss things so readily in real life.

I put on a scope and HVB on the Valkyrie. I've found you don't really need stability mods and can land headshots easily even from far distances. I honestly don't understand some of the hate for this gun, but whatevs.

After reading this thread, I tried the Valkyrie on the TGI, because I felt that it would be a good match for that kit. Turns out, it was. It allowed me to kill stuff fast enough to not get swarmed. Cloaking would give me enough of a boost to eliminate mooks in short time and hard cover was a proper solution for enemies at a distance. The fact that it was level I didn't help with the ammo capacity, but since I was running around anyway, finding an ammo box was no problem. It was an efficient combination.

Valkery misses RoF.. But if it had higher RoF, it would be same as harrier..

 

I've looked some of the posts here and was suprised that nobody mentionned to use this on the geth engineer. I have a 66464 weaponsbuild for him with dmg huntermode, improved RoF and accuracy.. Im not saying its awesome, but i have used the kits mentionned above, and in my opinion it works better then those.. overload will also help stunlocking your mooks so you can go for easy headshots; and the increased RoF will help dealing with bosses.

Don't get why folks say it's bad against armour and to use a backup weapon for armour, cause it sure is better then the Saber against armour and I don't recall hearing folks say anything of that sort against the Saber? So yeah, it's definitely good enough against armour.

 

Also shocked folks hate this as a headshot weapon, because it's very headshot friendly with it's multiple shots thingy it's got going. Miss one burst, no worries, your next burst is ready to go right away.

 

 

The best class I found for this so far while messing around with it now that I finally got it to level 9, is the Geth Engineer 6/6/4/.6/4 (got to have that pet. Never again am I playing without a pet >_<). Mods are Stability & HVB. The second bullet still flies somewhere around out of the center, but not as much anymore with Hunter Mode, and like megabeast said, use hard cover for much further head shots.

 

 

 

But yeah, I always use some sort of stability help on these type of guns (Argus/Vindicator/Incisor/etc.), otherwise I'd be on the hate bandwagon too.

 

 

Scope works great too, especially if your kit don't got any accuracy boost, since it turns it into a sniper rifle without any hip-fire penalty. Plus turn that Ghost kit into a true Infiltrator too.

TGI is probably the best with it. I still like a scope on it as well. Stim pack for bosses and heavy armor, shoot every thing else in the face. It's a really underrated weapon if you get good with it and land headshots. TGI is kind of the training wheels for it. I use it on a lot of kits that the Saber gets love with because the Saber hates me.
