I thought a two hander in DA2 was fun because I didn't care of tactics in DA2. But in DAO they look like the would get boring very fast. That's just me though. I like having to strategize and decide what tactic to use next in this game.
Question about warrior class defense?

You said you were fairly new to gaming right? Bioware use to have an even better strategic feel in the past. They've slowly moved away from it, but DAO was the last game in this sort of vein. If you can, try out Kotor or BG2 or Neverwinter Nights.

CON is pretty much redundant, unless you are soloing. Perhaps not even then. If you want to build a 2H warrior who also have some defensive capabilities, then one way of doing it would be to stack items that increase dodge chance, and have a dedicated creation mage in the party. Evon the Great's Mail, Cailan's Greaves, Cinch of Skillful Maneuvering, and Spellward adds up to 50% dodge chance. A creation mage can cast Heroic Defense and Glyph of Warding on the twohander to considerably increase defense; plus you also have +10 from Rally later on. Regarding attributes, you might spend a few points in DEX, but it would be exactly that many points worth of reduction in offensive punch. And since you would require some party help anyway, unless you dump everything into DEX, you might as well go full STR. After all, the faster you kill enemies, the lesser would be the need for survivability.
In short, CON - mostly a poor choice, DEX - considerably better. The trade offs should be kept in mind though, for offense is the best defense in DAO.
