Given the dragon-themed armor and weapons, cover art, and interesting plot points between Flemeth and dragons (think "Blood of the world" mentioned in Silent Grove plus her shape-shifting), I almost feel like there is a link between the Inquisitor and dragons that we don't know about yet. I realize this is Dragon Age and so promotional weapons could just be that, but we know there is something building with the dragons plotline, and that Flemeth knew of the coming chaos (likely referring to Veil tear). She also did what she could to protect the dragon bloodline (Maric; the actual dragons protected by Yavana).
Perhaps Flemeth pulled another "Flemeth save," this time using the fade to save the Inquisitor, and she's actually trying to save the world (or at least dragons) - and this is what gives the Inquisitor his/her dragon-themed helmet at the beginning as well as his/her fade power. She's used our other PCs for her own gain before - seems possible it could be the case here as well.
Just speculation of course - I also am a fan of the Temple of Sacred Ashes theory of PC being related somehow to the guardian spirit there. (Also, maybe Quizzy just took a giant heaping gulp of Sacred Ashes as the chaos ensued....)
