Hello there, MEGD.
Today, I spent a few hours trying to aquire Mass Effect. The first game, not the yet-to-be-released Mass Effect 2.

Today,
I was unsuccessful. It's almost like Mass Effect have been completely discontinued. All-in-all, it's not an enormous deal. I'm a long-time pirate. I have played Mass Effect already. But I make it a point to buy all of Bioware's games legitimaly. In preperation for Mass Effect 2, I decided that if I started today, I'd be done with Mass Effect before next Thursday (release date in Sweden).

Instead, the game is impossible to find. After visiting several stores, two of them Gamestop stores in the biggest malls in my entire region, ALL of them completely plastered with Mass Effect 2 posters, cut-outs and pre-order-now-or-your-firstborn-will-be-eaten-by-grues leaflets EVERYWHERE, I come to the conclusion that it simply cannot be found.

Why, I ask myself? WHY? There are several years older games, some released just last year, already sold as "classic" or cheaper versions. Why wasn't Mass Effect (1) re-marketed or re-released in anticipation of the long-awaited sequel?

For the record, I blame Electronic Arts. Everything has been going downhill since they took over.

Bah, I say. BAH! *shakes fist at God*
Addendum: Last thread was derailed by trolls and people who didn't read past the title of the thread. Online downloads are utterly useless to begin with, but just to make everyone understand this; If I could get Mass Effect without leaving the comfort of my cozy abode, I would.

Edit: Copy-pasting gets messed up on these boards. Fixed. Also, I'm not a Consoleboy. PC all the way.

You could download it on the 360 or on Steam.

Um....you can order ME1 via Amazon and get it shipped to your home. I didn't bother looking but the EA store may have it too. Duh.

EA didn't publish the first Mass Effect. I'm quite sure Mircosoft did.

Is it fun to have the attention spans of shrews? I've never actually tried. How is it, walking from one part of the apartment to the other, thinking "I've never been here before!"? It must be quite the ride.

Please. I implore you. It may take a whole 30 seconds out of your lives to read a post. But please, for the sake of all of us. Take the time.

Thank you.

Steam had it for like 3 euro's a while back... bastards, I had already spent 15 euro's on it by then through game.co.uk.
But if you can't or won't download the game I don't think you got much luck... Sadly.

Just wait until ME2 comes out. People, for some reason, love to trade in an older version of a game when a sequel comes out.

I'm gonig to go ahead and say that this thread probably already ran it's course before.

Blame EA all you want, but sweden is a small low population country with a small low-priority market, EA doesn't have to waste/lose money to accomodate a few hundred maybe a few thousand sales.

I would, if the ferries and gas money weren't so damn expensive. I hear that there was an EA-classics version, but I've never actually seen it in Sweden. I wonder if it was ever release here. If it wasn't, that could explain the scarcity.

So order it online. A number of people posted links in the last thread for stores that would deliver it to you.

By Stanley. But he didn't actually read the thread before locking it, so I've appealed it. But he's not replying, so I suppose he got preoccupied with other things, instead of unlocking it.

Wow way to be an arse about it. Sorry for trying to help I didn't see the last little part about you not wanting it for download which you gave no reason for. Also stating that you were a pirate sickens me so your lucky I was even kind enough to post anything.

OP makes too many excuses. "personal reasons" prevent him from getting a bank account.

Get used to it OP. If you don't get a debit card of some sort, you're SOL. You can buy it all over online, but if you want to limit yourself, that's not our, nor Bioware/EA's problem.

According to wikipedia, Microsoft published the X360 version and EA published the PC version. I think that Mass Effect just got stuck in some kind of perpetual Limbo, because it came out just as EA was taking over.

Your other thread was closed down because you wouldn't stop going on about being "forced" into piracy, so you start up another thread that's exactly the same...

... and that's not going to get you banned how exactly?

You think it has anything to do with personal choice? It's not.

Get over yourself. Not everyone can rely on their parent's money whenever something goes south.

The other thread was closed down because others wouldn't stop going on about how I wasn't being "forced" into piracy. Stop making a hen out of a feather.
