I think someone needs to create a FAQ thread. Based upon all the important technical questions asked so far (and the known keep info) so that when the thread drops off the main page theres a pinned (and locked?) topic for people.
Back to the main topic. I hope the DLC validation (for any future DLC) is one-time and not continuous like ME3.

Thank you Derek French! I'll admit, I was a little worried there...

How does it work in ME3? The ending damped all enthusiasm I had for the game and I've never replayed it, and never bought the DLCs (a first ever for me for any modern Bioware game).
Does that mean you cannot play your ME3 saves unless you validate online?

Every time you start the game it checks to see if your dlcs are valid and payed for. If not it disables them. So if no internet connection no dlcs available.
Although some said this doesn't happen, it has every time for me.

Thanks! I had something like this happen to me for DA:O, but I think that was a bug.
Yes, I agree that this should not be how DA:I does it. It's just aggravating.

I can play ME3 with DLCs even with my internet connection physically disconnected. However, I have no way to simulate crappy internet.

This is simply false. I can play ME3 with DLCs even with my internet connection physically disconnected.
Really I never have. I keeps telling me unable to connect Dlcs disabled.
my ps3 version works fine though. It only happens on my pc version.

I think it's because it is easier to pirate a pc game and so they add more security. It's still annoying though.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I love these threads.
Will Dragon Age: Inquisition for PC Windows require the Origin client: Yes.
Will Dragon Age: Inquisition for PC Windows require a permanent internet connection: No.
Will Dragon Age: Inquisition for PC Windows require a one-time activation through Origin via the internet (just like Mass Effect 3 PC): Yes.
Why is GameFly saying it requires a permanent connection: No idea.
Of course if you want to take advantage of certain DAI services you will need to have access to the internet, but not permanently. You may have heard about the Dragon Age Keep.
Nothing to see here. Please go about your regularly scheduled Monday and have a good one!
I'm sure thats what most of us figured, but its still good to have confirmation. Now just hurry up and release information on the, "uber" edition so I can finally decide which version of the game I want to pre-order. ![]()

Ew Origin client. I had managed to avoid using it so far... no longer I guess. This isn't because I use Steam or something similar, I don't use any of those services. In fact, I play very few games so this will largely go unused other than when I play DAI, which is why I had hoped to avoid it, since I try not to install unnecessary things on my PC.
Thanks for the clarification.

Good to know that "permanent" was likely someone's silly idea to copy/paste some part of old info.
Next bit of good news would be that it will also be available on Steam, or that we will be able to purchase DLC with actual cash instead of BW points.
Microsoft did away with that in their system...

I doubt it will be available on Steam and if there is the remote chance that it will happen I am pretty sure it would work the same was as Uplay does and that is worse. Regarding the DLC, its an unknown for Dragon Age: Inquisition is the first BioWare game that has been released with at least a year after Origin's release, we probably won't know for sure until after the game is released, but since all other games on Origin (aside from Mass Effect 3) have been using money instead of alternate currencies.

Hahaha, well I could try casting "summon Derek" again maybe, but I think Microsoft and Sony are going away from "points?" As such it's possible that we might be too....
I sure hope so. I've always hated having to spend $20 on points to buy something that only costs 10-15 dollars. And then I have leftover points that I can't do anything with.
