Color me skeptical. You'll probably need the Internet to activate and connect with your Keep save, but permanent connection? No way.
Yea I agree I understand now I am watching a show on tv and trying to keep up lol.

Ah, terrible DRM policies, the PC Master race's equivalent of the sobering 1936 Summer Olympics.
Hope it turns out to be false.
They might mean in that you need the 'net every time you START the game, but you don't need a maintained connection.
After all, technically ME3 has that - you can SORT of play offline, but only if you don't want access to any of your DLC in SP (and no MP at all, obviously), thus making most of your SP games moot and unloadable.
That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. You'd think they'd have understood after the fallout of SC4. *le sigh*

I don't think it's a mistake. I believe this has been standard for BioWare games since ME 2.
Not really. ME 2, DA 2 and ME 3 require online activation. But you can play on offline mode. Now if DA:I turn out like Diablo 3, which you HAVE TO be online while playing (disconect from internet = out of game), that would suck :/
Seems a bit stupid but this is another reason I don't bother with gaming on a PC.
Some time ago I was without phone for 2 days, and whenever I tried to use mass effect 3 it would not recognize all the DLCs I had installed. It was a nightmare. Will this ever be patched, or my DLCs instead of buys are merely extended loans that will last only until the me3 servers close down?
If I take my laptop with me for vacation in a remote mountain I will probably not be able to play it.
The strange thing is: Origin does a system and online check whenever it opens or I start the game. It usually takes 15-20 seconds for the process to complete. Are they really paranoid that I may be a thief who pirates their products that I still need to be screened, even though they confirmed it the other 600 times?
Is this really the way to combat piracy? Not only it did not prevent ME3 from going to illegal torrent sites, but it only created hassles and concerns for people who actually supported the company and bought the product.
I can certainly understand the concept of an initial validation, even a monthly validation for the first 3 years. But to require a check whenever the game is loaded is simply asinine. No wonder EA was elected worst company in America for 2 years in a row.
I wanted to play sim city. Based on what I saw, it´s a very good title, But the drm policy left such a bad taste in my mouth that I decided to boycott it... Permanently.Even if they fixed the issue, I think a lesson must be taught, a message must be sent, with our wallets. And I´m a guy who owns nearly 40 games on origin. I love EA games. I love their franchises, their development teams... But I can´t stand their policies.
While i was not pleased with the graphics (set by the lowest common denominator of the consoles), I was intrigued by DAI story and gameplay. I was going to pre-order it next week (the expanded version), but now I´ll need clarification. Online checks for playing online, or to upload info to the cloud profile, or save backup? Sure! Great! But in order to start the game every time? Never again! Not in this life.
The only thing EA did was to leave me, an honest client, curious about the current state of pc piracy. If it´s faithful, if there are losses, . I like to pay for what I use, I proud myself in being honest, but I have to wonder if in 5 or 10 years I´ll still be able to play me2 or 3 on PCor if the server shutdown will mean death to these titles. Should they die, and considering that I paid for them, I would consider piracy as a means to extend the use of the product. Way to go, EA!
I´m hoping they have learned the lesson. But if not, it´s the end of the line for Dragon Age in my life. And should ME4 use the same draconian policy, it´s over too for me.
Instead of using the money to purchase DRM games that won´t even start single play without an active connection, I would spend the money on GOG, a site with a mentality that actually respects customers and does not treat them as presumed thieves until proven otherwise.

Where is the information about permanent connectivity? I have not seen it myself.
WAIT WHAT.
Where was this said?
I could deal with origin fine. But constant internet connection? DA ****?
Unless there is some built in feature that constantly uploads your world state to the keep, I'm pretty sure its just a poor choice of words.
Will probably follow ME3 online req of initial install verification >> verify dlc at game startup.
No buy from me if it requires constant internet connection, **** that.
Thank you Allan, I was seriously curious about that permanent internet connection I saw two days xD I mean...eh. are they hinting that it'll be multi-player or something else?
Yeah it's not like anyone has gotten things wrong in regards to Dragon Age Inquisition before, I'd wait for official dev confirmation before you know acting like the BSN.
Never did buy Simcity, so I didn't endure it. But surely EA remembers the last time Bioware Fans got pissed off.

then this wouldn't be the bsn... at least they wait for semi-valid reasons before freaking out.

I can play all my DLCs offline in ME3. I don't play MP so that doesn't bother me.
Can't imagine why EA/Bioware would think this is worth the backlash they'll inevitably get. I think it's a mistake. Internet connectivity while installing is fine and to be expected but permanent internet connectivity? Cuz that ended so well the last time amirite?
Ok like I always said, keep calm guys. After the OXM incident, don't take anything that is not confirmed by BioWare seriously. I would say, just restrain yourself for now, wait till they officially answer, then it's still not too late to unleash the wrath of millions exploding fans (either on EA or the damn site and their false info) lol
I cannot find DAI on that site.
