If you are pre-ordering now, then you are doing so under the assumption that it will/might require an internet connection because that is the information provided to you officially on the site.

Bioware does not "owe" you anything.

If it bothers you, I would suggest holding off until we have confirmation that this is intended. Its not like you don't have 4 months left to pre-order.

BioWare owes its potential customers proper information regarding the game if the person in question has the choice to pre-order the game. Stop defending BioWare without giving what you're actually writing a seconds thought, fanboy.

I've myself never thought about pre-ordering. This being one of those reasons, and even if the game doesn't require constant internet connection, there are a couple other points which are no-buys for me.

Oh god please no. I missed ME3 because of this. Please BioWare, I WANT to give you my Money I truly do. I would even preorder a collector's edition. But no, you HAVE to force stupid DRM. Why harrass us, you loyal fans, I can't understand. Pirates will pirate the game anyway. Stop this origin/constantly online madness.

For ME3, Origin does not only serve as DRM. By requiring customers to register games on Origin, they enlarge their potential customer base for other titles offered on the platform. Valve did the same thing with the Half-Life series, and now Steam is the most popular video game distribution service. EA's board must have liked the idea and tried to mimmick it.

Origins will never challenge Steam. Just like ESO won't even come close to scraping the bottom of the MMORPG barrel in its pathethic attempt to challenge WoW and a couple other big names.

It's been 2 days since the question was raised, and it'll be 6 months until the game is released. I'd say give it time.

It's in their better interest to confirm the answer within the near future, but "owing" us isn't the phrase I'd use. Some game companies don't bother with Message Boards, or ones with developers taking the time to respond in the first place.

Aaaaanyways.... my personal speculation is it's a "semantic error". As someone pointed out earlier, it's definitely not the best wording. Regardless, I'd probably advise keeping the pitchforks in the barn until a legitimate answer pops up. Until then, it's just fighting over fine print with yet-to-be-confirmed meaning.

Is BioWare serious? It's monday now, they owe us an answer, ESPECIALLY since people can pre-order now. This is a ****** joke.

It might be Monday, but since BioWare works on the West Coast, its just past 10am there, which is the start of normal business hours and the people that might have the knowledge to answer the question might not have gotten to the question yet because its buried under a lot of other work that accumulated before this specific question reached their desk.

Never say never on anything unless you enjoy hindsight facepalms and lackluster victories. People said steam would never challenge actual video game retailers back in the day and look where we are now?

I agree and this will not stop me from pre-ordering the game anyways. But I already did that and I am not gonna let the online requirement bother me.

So has it been confirmed yet? I'm not being impatient or anything but it's 3:25 AM here and I just woke up.

Not with EA's current reputation of the Big bad wolf of the gaming industry and the "Gaben is love, Gaben is life" nonsense."

True but EA does not take the PC platform as serious as Valve. Origin could honestly be better then Steam if EA put more resources into making it better. Steam really helped put PC gaming in good shape.

So other companies  (Ubisoft/EA) are trying to capitalize on it. However there attention is more focused on consoles since they believe consoles have more money to offer. Maybe when EA switches gears and sees how open and beneficial the PC platform is, then thats when they will start making Origin a serious competitor to Steam

All I'm saying is that you should just come out and state "This will never happen" unless you enjoy being proven wrong in a few years, or being proven right in a "who gives a ****" sort of victory since nobody else would have given a crap that you were right about something they deemed as obvious.

And they have provided that information: That it requires Origin and a permanent internet connection. Now this could always change in the weeks/months to come, and they could clarify this to mean something else, but either way, you are not missing out on anything if they change/confirm this later today or next month as you will still have ample time to pre-order if you wish.

If you were trying to insult by calling me a fanboy, then I am afraid you have failed. I take no offense to that phrase.

"What does a single player game need with an Internet connection?"

I'm going to wait and hear from the Devs,

I've played both DAO and DAII without internet on and with DLC, on my X-box 360, I imagine this is some sort of misunderstanding, I'm sure the Dev's will clarify.
