It would've been nice to have him in ME3. I liked his calamari gumbo.

I think working for Cerberus probably got Gardner locked up or kicked off the Normandy, and without any exceptional skills to back him up like Ken, Gabby, Chakwas and Joker possessd, he had no chance of being assigned back to it.

Chakwas never joined Cerberus. She worked for Shepard, which is how she dodged being locked up in the 6 months between games.

Ken and Gabby aren't let off the hook automatically. Unless Shepard authorizes it, they remain in custody.

Joker was kept in custody too for the most part. Just had a little more freedom than Shepard.

Ever since playing the citadel DLC, Grunt is one of my favorite characters. I wish he could have been in on the first part of it:
