Well, I figure it's going to be a quick run, since it'll be all about getting to the collector base with everyone in a position to be killed. So...recruit missions, plot missions and as few side missions as I have to.  

You can have 8 squadmates by the time you activate the Horizon mission. After what I would do is the firewalker mission which when done will be 5 missions that will activate the collector ship mission. Go do IFF and do the Normandy crash mission and the recovering the crates mission from Aria which should give you the collectors boarding the Normandy. Depending on how quickly you play the game, it shouldn't take long to have everyone dead

You have Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Grunt, Jack, Kasumi, Zaeed and Mordin giving you 8 which is enough to get through the relay. Illium does not need to be visited unless you want Samara and/or Thane on your squad.

Maybe you should have spammed the conversation with the Geth Prime. I've only done this like twice, I believe, but the Geth Prime scared me the first time.

I probably did. I said goodbye to everyone else already and I just wanted to get on to the fighting again.

Ah, Jack as the phantom. She survived the suicide mission in my last game, so i missed that. I let her kill Aresh. She liked me.

Survived or not, by not doing Grissom Academy does ensure her doomed fate. The game is kind of weird though. The mission didn't go away until after Citadel coup. I'm pretty sure I did over six missions and the mission was still available

This dialogue here is not unused, but if you're a trilogy player who always play imported games you'll never be able to hear it.

Survived or not, by not doing Grissom Academy does ensure her doomed fate. The game is kind of weird though. The mission didn't go away until after Citadel coup. I'm pretty sure I did over six missions and the mission was still available 

Right... But if she didn't survive the suicide mission, I could have done Grissom and still got the phantom Jack, I think.

 

And yes, the coup attempt is the only timer on the Grissom Academy mission. That's why you don't meet Jack in Purgatory until after the coup, no matter how early you save the students.

Lol, most of it is the same, but to get the other last parts, your save must be an "only" ME3 save, and not an imported save. If the game reads that you have played Mass Effect 2, it won't play this dialogue. I've gotten this dialogue once, and it was really hard to find a script for this conversation since there's no video out there that contains it. Of course, for Wii U players, this is their "only" dialogue.

The wiki and other sources say that it is a timed mission, and after 3 missions, you are denied access to the mission. 

 

I don't think Phantom Jack exists if she died on the Collector Base. Either way, her body will be vaporized by the destruction of the base.

Okay I remember it now. I dunno the wording exactly, but after Grunt thanks shep for getting him out of the tank, it's shep who says, "it's been an honor, Grunt." and Grunt says, "Yeah, Yeah."
