Could be. To me, if that's the reason, it implies ignorance of Cerberus' bad reputation as an "avowed enemy" of the council, etc. And that just doesn't ring true.

No, it's in the Citadel DLC. It's totally worth buying the Citadel DLC just to make the breakup more entertaining.

Do you still get that scene if you've started another relationship in me3? Playing thru 2 and I havent settled on a LI for this run. Was leaning towards Garrus (still haven't done the g-man) but a Jacob to drive-me-to-lesbianism Traynor choice might be good. Looking forward to sad Kaidan when I destroy his delusions of getting back togther in 3.

The Garrus romance is pretty good, good dialogues throughout the game and citadel dlc content is one the best.

I believe you do since you're still romancing him. The only way to find out is to try it though.

I feel like he's a bit distant within the DLC.

I think it's my favorite in the game. Either that or waiting for the Weyloc Speaker to get 3 or 4 lines into his spiel before Shepard shoots the tank out of boredom.

Yup, but it makes me wonder, what if the geth could have fought the reapers? What if the rest of the galaxy's only job was to defend the geth hive mind -- and keep up a steady supply of mobile platforms, heh -- while the geth fought the reapers on all fronts. Synthetic versus synthetic. Hmm...
